I don't think you can force tag teams on people. You might find one or two long-term teams through that format but it's not a long-term fix for the division. Either there's a market for tag teams or there isn't. Currently the market is tepid. Part of the problem is that the roster isn't real big right now. There's also a million singles titles and everybody's in one title scene or another. Plus it's inherent that most people want to be solo stars. It's easier to write for one character than for two, and if you want to team up with another writer you have to find someone with whom you share creative chemistry. That's not easy to find even when you're actively seeking a partner, so pairing people together at random isn't necessarily going to be the solution.
I am a cynical bastard so I could be wrong. Seth did try this very concept back in 2006 to crown tag champs and it went alright. A couple of solid teams came out of it but eventually the tag division dried up like it always does.

Maybe if I offered a real life incentive. Start a tag team tournament and give the winners a cash prize of $5 American.

No, Cairo got the wrong idea I believe.
I wouldn't be for a tag team tournament for a better tag division, I would do it to freshen up storylines and feuds. If we wanted a tag division, there would be one obviously, but think of how many different ways to get fresh storyline ideas out of the tag team tournament. Especially when the tag teams are drawn by random (Seth pulling names out of a hat). If anything, maybe a tag team stays out of it, maybe a storyline starts out of it, and maybe we get new tag team champions who hate each other. How can any of that seem so wrong?
Plus, on the positive side of it, we don't have much of a roster anyways so half the teams will be cut out in the first two weeks leading into the PPV, so yeah. It'll be fun. Use this as our Smackdown / RAW / ECW Draft/Trade show to freshen shit up.

Can't believe I'm saying this OOC...but I agree with Torture on this one. The whole idea of doing a tournament where teams are paired up by pulling names out of a hat is interesting and could make for some interesting storylines.

Why make a tag tournament? If we're trying to create new feuds and storylines then why not have a singles tournament to crown a #1 contender for the world title? We did that back in 2006 when I was a young rook and it skyrocketed me to the top of the card. To hell with some random hodgepodge of tag teams, let's give people something worth fighting for. Let's give all of these young lions, the Jay Price's, the Greenfever's, the Hector Rodriguez's and so on a chance to compete for the most prestigious prize in all of WCF. Now that's a goddamn tournament.

I'm a huge fan of the lethal lottery tournament. I also, however, really liked what TNA did a little while ago and had one half of the tournament be random pairings and one half of the tournament be established tag teams. So we could do half lethal lottery, half tag teams.
