Hola, my name es Hector Rodriguez. I am from Toluca, Mexico. I am one of many new faces in the Wrestling Championship Federation lockerroom. My manager, Carlos Estrada, considers us both blessed that not only we would get signed by an American wrestling company, but one of the caliber of WCF. Even more than that, my first match will be at the monthly pay-per-view. I will be seen all over the world in my debut match. People from all corners of the world will be watching me wrestle in the ring, even my friends and family in Toluca. All the people who know me all over Mexico will be cheering me on. They will be watching me to see if I can make it in the great land of America. A place where the wrestlers are bigger than most of the lucha wrestlers I wrestled in my home country.
Luckily, mi padre wasn't Mexican like mi madre. He is from New Mexico and we haven't heard from him in years. She tell me he was big, beefy, American and that explains why I am so big myself. I will fit in here in WCF. This is my new home. All eyes are on me to see if I will fail. I won't fail. I can't fail...
Carlos Estrada
Hey homes, wake up. They are playing your music now, it's time for us to go out there and introduce the world to Hector Rodriguez!!
Carlos Estrada turns and slaps Hector on the chest real hard and starts trying to pump him up as Gasolina by Daddy Yankee can be heard through the curtains in the arena. Carlos splits the curtains and walks out onto the top of the ramp. A couple of seconds later Hector steps forward and follows him through the curtain and Hector gets a decent amount of cheers but not too much since they don't know him. A lot of people seem to be cheering due to the upbeat music of Daddy Yankee.
Hector walks down one side of the ramp and starts slapping hands with the fans all the way down. On the opposite side of the ramp, Carlos walks down his side and does the same. A couple of times, he stops at a pretty lady, takes their hand and kisses it and starts dancing with them from over the rail. They finally make it to the bottom of the ramp and head to the ring steps where both men walk up them and climb into the ring. A man is sitting down on a stool in the middle of the ring. There are two empty stools in the ring. Carlos and Hector nod at the man and play to the crowd for a couple of seconds more before joining the man on their own stools.
The others in the back tell Carlos this man, Hank Brown, is the best interviewer that WCF has. Someone else said he was the only interviewer, that the others are just commentators.
Hank Brown shakes hands with Carlos and then with Hector Rodriguez.
Hank Brown
Hello there, both of you. I am Hank Brown, lead interviewer here at WCF and I would like to welcome you both on behalf of the rest of Wrestling Championship Federation. I hope you had an easy time finding your way around the building and didn't have any trouble getting through security.
Carlos smirks and shrugs.
Carlos Estrada
Well, actually, we did have a leetle trouble with security. It was nothing that my man Hector couldn't handle. Hector flex for the peoples.
Hector flexes for the crowd and some women start whistling. Hector looks around as if surprised.
Carlos Estrada
Looks like someone already has admirers Hector.
Hector shrugs his shoulders.
Hank Brown
Well, for those of you out in the crowd that don't follow WCF.com, these two here with me are the newest addition to the Wrestling Championship Federation roster. I introduce you to Hector Rodriguez and his manager Carlos Estrada!
Hector holds an arm up towards the crowd while Carlos flashes a smile.
Carlos Estrada
Thank you, Mr. Hank Brown for that welcome to your wonderful wrestling organization.
Hank Brown
You're welcome. So, Hector is from Mexico, correct?
Carlos Estrada
That is right, sir.
Hank Brown
I think he is one of the only wrestlers we have had come out of the country of Mexico here in Wrestling Championship Federation.
Carlos Estrada
Really? There is great talent in the wonderful country of Mexico. Maybe there hasn't been many wrestlers from Mexico here because this country loves big wrestlers?
Hank Brown
Maybe that's so, and now that you mention it, your protege here isn't exactly the lucha libre size like I'd expect to see from Mexico.
Hector hangs his head down and puts his hands up to his face. Carlos pats him on the shoulder.
Carlos Estrada
His padre is from New Mexico and was big man. He leave at early age and so it's a, how you say...sensitive subject for Hector.
Hank Brown looks sorry.
Hank Brown
Oh, I'm sorry Hector. I didn't know.
Hector gets off his stool and walks over and hugs Hank, patting him on the back. Some women in the crowd go "awwww" and then Hector lets go and goes back to his stool.
Hank Brown
Yes, well. So you guys just signed contracts and Hector, you already have a match.
Carlos Estrada
Actually, I signed the contracts for us both and will be doing most of the signing from here on out because Hector can't really speak English well at all. I'll be signing his contracts here on out on his behalf. He also doesn't have a green card yet, but Mr. Seth Lerch has made arrangements for that.
Hank Brown
Yes, so Mr. Lerch put you in a match first thing at the pay-per-view.
Carlos Estrada
Yes, we showed him videos of Hector wrestling in Mexico. He wanted to put Hector on TV as soon as possible. We want to say thank you to Mr. Lerch again for giving us such a quick opportunity.
Carlos points at a camera and says something aside in Spanish to Hector. Hector looks at the camera and nods and gives a thumbs up as if telling Seth Lerch thank you also.
Hank Brown
Were you both told who Hector is facing at the pay-per-view?
Carlos shrugs his shoulders.
Carlos Estrada
Yeah. Someone named JJ Biggs.
The crowd cheers and Carlos and Hector jump up looking around, surprised at the crowd's reaction to that name.
Carlos Estrada
Es he well-known around here or something?
Hank laughs a little and grins as he answers Carlos.
Carlos Estrada
He's only a former WCF world champion, tag team champion, and television champion.
Carlos looks surprised and turns to repeat that in Spanish to Hector. Hector jumps up and knocks his stool over. Carlos turns back to Hank as Hector picks his stool back up and sits back down on it looking around at the crowd.
Carlos Estrada
Wait, you mean he was a champion of your televisions?
The crowd laughs which makes Carlos glare for a second before composing himself.
Hank Brown
No, it's just another title belt that anyone can hold here in WCF. I mean, you guys have gimmick titles in Mexico, right? Like a sombrero championship or a don't drink the water title right?
Hank laughs at his own joke and Hector jumps up, knocking his stool over again when he sees the angry look on Carlos face.
Carlos Estrada
You dare make fun of Mexico like that? You're lucky Hector here doesn't completely understand English or he'd break you.
Hank holds his hands up.
Hank Brown
Easy, easy. I was just trying to make a joke.
Carlos Estrada
I'm starting to not like you, Mr. Hank Brown. Maybe this is why the other guys were laughing when they told us how great you are.
Hank Brown glares at Carlos for a second, who waves Hector away. Hector picks his stool up again, but doesn't sit back down.
Hank Brown
Well, let's get back to the interview.
Carlos Estrada
Puta.
Hank Brown
What was that?
Carlos Estrada
I say nothing.
Hank Brown
Yeah, well, like I said you are facing a former world champion in JJ Biggs this Sunday in your debut match.
Carlos puts his hand on Hank Brown's shoulder and leans over.
Carlos Estrada
That's because Mr. Lerch sees the potential in Hector Rodriguez. In Mexico, he was known as the Mexican Machine. You said a while ago that you were surprised to see someone of Hector's size from Mexico. Yes, most of the luchas in Mexico are small, but it wasn't about the size, it's about the corazon...the heart. It was about the fire, the passion burning inside them. Hector defeated them. The best of them fell to the Toluca Slam, the Toluca Drop, and his newest move he will debut here in America...Respecto. We are here to return respect to wrestling.
Hank Brown
You're here to return respect to wrestling?
Carlos Estrada
Si. Look around you. Back before we even considered coming to America, we were watching your shows on the television in Toluca the nights that Hector wasn't winning matches, wearing championship belts. We saw on your shows all these men getting into Seth Lerch's face and showing complete disrespect to him. We saw men hanging over the ropes disrespecting the wonderful fans. We saw wrestlers disrespecting each other. Half the men who have worn championship belts in this place were disrespectful while wearing them.
Carlos takes the microphone from Hank Brown and steps up next to Hector and points at him.
Carlos Estrada
This man, Hector Rodriguez, is here to return respect to the American wrestling.
The crowd cheers.
Carlos Estrada
He wears a mask that represents the lucha libre style and is a way of showing respect towards his country and representing it. Do the American wrestlers do this? No, they do not. They do nothing but think of this...
Carlos reaches into his pocket and pulls out a wad of cash. Some random fan out in the crowd yells out something about being broke and wanting a hand out. Hector looks in his direction and the guy gets quiet again.
Carlos Estrada
This is what they care about. The money in their pocket, the belt around their waist. They want to win the belt of the televisions or that belt that represents the United States of America. It is held by a man that is disrespectful. Havoc.
Carlos looks at Hank Brown.
Carlos Estrada
I think it's ironic that Hector is on a quest here to return respect to this country and we're pitted against JJ Biggs first. We were invited to come to WCF Slam this past week to watch from the press box. We see JJ Biggs interrupt people when they are in the ring for a contract signing and then he walks out. JJ Biggs, you showed disrespect to Seth Lerch, and these other two men Dake Ken and Slickie T. You show disrespect to the fans in the arena and watching on television when you come out like that uninvited.
You, sir, will be our first target. This Sunday, everyone is thinking you will walk into the ring and walk all over Hector Rodriguez because he's new to this WCF. The people who think this, have got it wrong. Being new to this place doesn't immediately make Hector someone that can be walked all over and tossed to the side. No, my friend, Hector Rodriguez is known as the Mexican Machine because he does not stop. He cannot be put down easily. He keeps getting back up, he keeps taking the punishment, he keeps dishing it out himself until he pins the other person in the ring.
Carlos Estrada puts a hand on Hector's shoulder who crosses his arm over his chest.
Carlos Estrada
You might be a former world champion, but see Hector can't understand English all that well so that makes no difference to him. He wasn't here in WCF when you held that belt or any other. That was then, and this is now. Now, you're facing the newest addition to WCF in Hector Rodriguez. Hector is a powerhouse, a monster, a MACHINE. You are guilty of disrespect here in WCF and you will feel a Respecto and then experience the Toluca Drop here in the ring Sunday.
Carlos steps toward the camera.
Carlos Estrada
This is a message to everyone watching who is in the lockerroom. Hector Rodriguez is here. He will bring back respect to WCF and the whole wrestling sport. If he has to beat it into every single one of you, he will...gladly. Get out of the way or get in the way and get run over by the MACHINE. JJ Biggs is first in line, but there are many more standing in it right after him. Most of them don't even know it. That will change soon.
Hector steps forward and moves Carlos to the side, flexes for the camera and yells out as Gasolina plays again. Hector and Carlos walk over and shake hands with Hank Brown and talk to him for a few seconds before exiting the ring and walking up the ramp.
Luckily, mi padre wasn't Mexican like mi madre. He is from New Mexico and we haven't heard from him in years. She tell me he was big, beefy, American and that explains why I am so big myself.
