(As Slam comes back from commercial, a Superfans promotional package airs. The opening shot is of Mark and Marc dressed as the Hart Foundation, being introduced and given the WCF Tag Team Championship belts by Seth Lerch, to the bewildered dismay of Gravedigger.)
Seth Lerch: I would like to announce the newest tag team in WCF!
("Hysteria" by Muse's plays, beginning at the guitar intro, as a clip of the Superfans walking out onto the stage at Ultimate Showdown dressed as the Dudley Boys plays.)
I am awarding the newly reinstated WCF Tag Team Titles to this very team!
(A clip package plays over "Hysteria" of the Superfans doling Mark Outs to people, mimicking finishers and entering arenas as famous tag teams: the aforementioned Dudley Boys, giving Chester a 3D through a table, Mark using Gravedigger's Death From Above on Ryen Daniels, Marc using Chester's Morning Star to get a pinfall against D-Day, the Superfans dressed up as Exodus for their in-ring debut, Marc kicking Chester in the back of the head with the Cheap Pop, Mark smashing Gravedigger over the head with a steel chair dressed as Buh Buh Ray Dudley, the Superfans dressed up as Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura.
The package concludes with all the times the Superfans have had their hands raised in victory after matches, covered in blood after battling Exodus and holding up their Tag Titles each time before that.)
Kyle Steel: The Superfans get their first victory here in WCF!
Zach Davis: Listen to this place explode for the Superfans!
(The promo piece ends with the Superfans in the crowd, snapping pictures and high fiving the crowd.)
The Superfans are a team by fans, for the fans!
(The promo package buzzes out as we return to a view of the WCF main staging area. The room goes dark, then blue and yellow strobes dance as the bass intro to Muse's "Hysteria" plays.)
Shannen Lerch: Welcome back to Slam, where we're about to be joined by the WCF Tag Team Champions!
(The bass movement ends as the guitar intro picks up and the lights explode into blue and yellow flecked with gray. The Superfans, along with Tiffany Jane, hit the stage with the WCF Tag Team Championship belts and breathe in the energy. Slam broadcasters Shannen Lerch and Zach Davis try to get words in over the giant pop.)
Listen to this place explode time after time for these three! They've reinvigorated more than the tag team division in WCF, they've rejuvenated the fans of this company!
Zach Davis: I said it once, but I'll say it again! This is a team for the fans, by the fans! The Superfans are the best thing to happen to this company in a long time!
(Tiffany walks between Mark and Marc, who are still sporting a little bit of tape and bandages from their epic confrontation with Exodus at Ultimate Showdown. Mark has a small bandage on his head and Marc has a little tape around his right knee and left shoulder. Tiffany Jane kisses her boys on the cheek as they walk to the ring together once again.)
The undefeated Superfans face another hungry tag team this week on Slam in the Breathtakers! I wonder if this is about that match, Shannen.
Shannen Lerch: That's what I'd assume, Zach! They're always out here to make statements and back them up!
(Tiffany Jane gets up onto the ring apron, slides her arms over the top rope and flips over it, doing a leg scissor in the air as she lands on her feet inside the ring.)
Zach Davis: Yep! Still hot!
(Marc leaps over the top rope in his white tank top and camo cargo shorts, landing on his black high-top Chucks. Mark steps through the top and middle rope in jeans and a Superfans tee, wearing dress shoes and his WCF Tag Team Title belt around his waist. Marc takes his off his shoulder and raises it proudly as Tiffany Jane claps her hands. Marc runs up to the second turnbuckle and holds it out higher as the flashbulbs go off and the crowd continues to pop. Mark leans into Tiffany Jane and says something to her that makes her chuckle a little, then look at Marc who is just soaking it all in. Mark climbs to the second turnbuckle on the other side of the ring and undoes his belt, lifting it into the air for all to see.)
This place still hasn't calmed down!
(The music fades and the lights return to normal, but the Superfans still point out to the crowd, then to their Tag Titles and then to themselves. They eventually get down from the turnbuckles and meet in the center of the ring. Mark waves to the sound guy to throw him a microphone. He catches it, adjusts it and begins to speak after breathing in deep.)
Mark: Now Exodus knows who the real dominant tag team in this company is!
(The crowd pops and more cameras flash.)
That's right! It isn't them, it's the Superfans! We are the rising stars of today and the straw that stirs the drink for all of our fans!
(What a surprise! The crowd pops again! Mark waits for it to subside before continuing.)
So we get through a hellish title defense at Ultimate Showdown and Seth is all like, I'm giving you the week off, but I still want you to reach into the bag of tricks and do a famous announcing duo. Naturally, we did Gorilla and The Body. The people approved of our decision.
(The crowd laughs and claps as Mark hands the stick to his younger brother, Marc.)
Marc: So we're out there, doing our thing and we get to call the in-ring debut of this team called the Breathtakers. And we liked watching them work. One of them was a high-flyer and a spot monkey, the other one was really technical and psychological, and they had this lady... with...
(Marc looks at his brother and then Tiffany Jane.)
...them.
(Marc scratches his head.)
And they were unknown when they won their... first... match. This profile sounds awfully familiar to me, bro.
(Marc hands the microphone to Mark, who is now swimming in an ocean of his own confusion.)
Shannen Lerch: I think I know what the Superfans are driving at here, Zach.
Mark: So you're saying they won their debut, they have a spots guy and a mat guy, and that they have a cute valet?
(Marc furrows his brow and effusively nods.)
That sounds a lot like, well, us.
(Marc continues to nod.)
So we have to face our evil clones this week for the Tag Team Titles?
(Both Mark and Marc's eyes widen in terror as they begin running around the ring, pretending to be scared. Tiffany just stands in the middle of the ring, sighing heavily and putting her face in her hands. The crowd heartily laughs. Marc picks up a microphone as well and begins yelling hysterically into it.)
Marc: Game over man! Game over!
Mark: Evil clones! Aaaahhhh! Aaaahhhh!
Marc: Aaaaah! Aaaaaahhh! Clones that are evil!
(The two men run around in circles in the ring until Tiffany Jane has enough and grabs them both by the ear, drags them to the middle of the ring with her and lets their ears go. Both of them reach for their respective pulled ears and wince in pain. She snatches the microphone from Mark.)
Tiffany Jane: Knock it off, you two!
(The Tag Team Champions cut the horseplay as Tiffany gives them both a coy smile and continues.)
I know we’re all about having fun and being entertaining, but we’ve got a job to do. You’re right, Mark, the Breathtakers are a lot like you guys because they’re young, hungry and willing to do what it takes to make a name for themselves in WCF. I need you to focus. The challenges will only get tougher, the stakes will only get higher and the privilege of being WCF Tag Team Champions only lasts as long as you want it to.
(The Superfans calm themselves and Tiffany grins wide.)
Mark: But, Tiff, what happens if our evil twins... come out dressed up as us? We'll be SO lost!
Marc and Mark look at each other again, but before they can run around, Tiffany Jane pulls on their ears again.
Marc: You’re right, Tiff. You’re always right. You know, now that I think of it, I wonder where this team gets off calling themselves the Breathtakers when they don’t have our beloved Tiffany Jane.
(The crowd applauds and begins to chant, She! Is! Hot! She! Is! Hot! Tiffany blushes beet red and giggles.)
Zach Davis: Our fans do have a point, Shannen.
Shannen Lerch: You slobber all over her, Zach. Cut it out, you’re a professional!
Zach Davis: You’re just jealous that you aren’t Tiffany Jane, the lovely manager of our WCF Tag Team Champions.
(Mark and Marc wave their arms up and down to keep the chant going.)
Marc: Yeah! That’s right! She is hot! And she’s smart! It’s difficult to get more breathtaking than that, guys!
(Tiffany Jane quiets the chant, red-faced. The crowd cheers and applauds for her instead. After the ovation, Mark quiets the fans down and starts speaking.
Mark: While Tiffany is hot, it’s true that the Breathtakers are a lot like us. That’s why we like them and that’s why we’re excited to face them at Slam this week for the WCF Tag Team Titles. They came in and showed what they’re made of, so that’s what they deserve.
(Mark slings his championship belt over his shoulder and pats the front plate of it.)
When we were given these titles, we said we’d take on any and all comers, no matter the weather or circumstance. It could be raining cats and dogs and other mammals - we’d still defend our titles. We could be booked in the first-ever Daisy Picking Match, where you win if you’ve picked more flowers in a beautiful field than your opponent after sixty minutes - we’d still defend our titles.
Marc: The arena could be collapsing - we’d still defend our titles. Seth Lerch could book us in a Hugging Match! And we’d still defend our titles!
(The crowd laughs heartily and applauds the Superfans’ courage. The three of them look to the camera and put their arms over each other‘s shoulders.)
We weren’t kidding when we said we’d defend this gold anyplace, anytime and at any cost. Breathtakers, we may like you, but this week on Slam you’ll learn to respect us. You’re hungry, but we’re hungrier. Do you know what happens when reigning champions stay hungry?
Mark: They become dynasties unto themselves. Until Slam, gentlemen.
(The Superfans drop their microphones as “Hysteria” plays, beginning at the first chorus. Tiffany Jane smiles as the Superfans go out into the crowd again, to high five and sign autographs.)
Zach Davis: How legitimate are the Superfans!? They’re undefeated in WCF competition and they’ve backed up every word they’ve said! They really are true champions, Shannen!
Shannen Lerch: Say what you will about what I think about Tiffany Jane, but the Superfans are a sight to be seen in WCF. They don’t come out here, swear their heads off and make empty threats! They come out here, tell it like it is and then keep entertaining our fans! They’re incredible!
Zach Davis: Slam comes back shortly, after this commercial break!
(The Superfans’ theme keeps playing as Tiffany climbs out of the ring and starts signing fan posters along the guard rail. Mark and Marc throw up their titles for all to see, bringing the crowd to a roaring pop, as the camera fades out to commercial.)
