The scene opens as the camera pans high above a familiar sports venue in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. Cellular Field. The view is something that you would expect from the Goodyear Blimp as the camera begins to zoom in on the perfectly manicured playing surface as the bulbs from the stadium lights high above give the illusion of daylight. The White Sox grounds crew meticulously drags and dampens the infield dirt with a water hose as both teams continue their warm-up tosses in the outfield grass. As players from both teams finish loosening their arms, they begin to trot off the field to their respective dugouts as the grounds crew finishes their work on the third base side on begin to roll up their hoses. The diamond is now empty except for the bright white bases as the public address announcer begins to speak.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to U.S. Cellular Field for tonight’s contest featuring the visitors from the north side of Chicago, the Chicago Cubs...
The silence is quickly broken as the air becomes filled an even mixture of cheers and jeers as the Cubs fans from the north side attempt to silence the boos of the home crowd as their team acknowledges their presence.
And YOUR CHICAGO WHITE SOX!
Once again the crowd is split, but more cheers can be heard and the White Sox players and personnel acknowledge their loyal fans from the south side of the Windy City.
As the rivalry between the Cubs and the White Sox continues here tonight, it is only appropriate that a son of the Windy City be chosen to throw out tonight’s ceremonial first pitch. This man is an individual that has become known worldwide for his success in the hotel and gaming industry and has been philanthropic in donating millions of his own dollars to preserve and enhance neighborhoods and communities in the city of Chicago. Ladies and gentlemen, Cubs fans and White Sox fans, and citizens of Chicago, please welcome, Chicago’s own, ALLEN GUILIANO!
The crowd erupts into a chorus of cheers, as fans of both ball clubs come to their feet and acknowledge the businessman and WCF superstar as he makes his way out of the White Sox dugout and onto the freshly cut grass. Guiliano carefully steps over the newly chalked foul line as he waves to the crowd, donning a buttoned White Sox uniform with his last name arched across the back complete with the number “09” to signify the year of his appearance. He completes his attire with black slacks and his usual black and white wingtip shoes as he takes his place on the mound and the catcher takes his place behind the plate. Allen winds and fires a pitch that is high but over the center of the plate as the crowd pops once again and the catcher goes out to greet Guiliano and they share a quick but firm handshake.
Let’s have one last round of applause for ALLEN GUILIANO!
Allen makes his way off the field as the captains and managers from both teams greet him as he once again makes his way over the chalked foul line and he acknowledges the cheering crowd one last time before making his way back into the tunnel that leads under the stadium. The National Anthem can faintly be heard in the background as the camera focuses in on Guiliano as he makes his way down the concrete hallway and stops to acknowledge the anthem of the nation he now calls home. As the final phrase of the anthem escapes the lips of the vocalist, Guiliano makes his way into a small elevator that takes him up into the bowels of the stadium and into a small entrance where a uniformed guard stands and casually escorts the guest of honor up into the pressbox and to the awaiting broadcaster that sits with an extra headset as the first inning comes to a close. Allen takes a seat next to long time radio voice of the White Sox, Ed Farmer, and slips the headset over his ears.
Ed: 3-1 pitch on the way to Lee is swung on and driven into left center and the Cubs have the lead-off man aboard to start the top of second. Joining me up here in the broadcast booth is today’s man of honor and Chicago native, Allen Guiliano. Allen, great to have you up here today, and thank you for all you have done for the city of Chicago. I hear you are quite the avid baseball fan back in Vegas where you reside.
Allen: First off, thank you for having me up here with you today. It is a great honor to be invited to a rivalry game such as this here in the great city of Chicago and I was humbled by the ovation of the fans and the generosity of the players from both teams as I got to the ballpark here today. To answer your question, I am a huge fan of the sport of baseball. Been going to the ballpark as much as I can over the last several years and it is great to have yet another professional team in the Reno Aces move into the state of Nevada and give the Las Vegas 51s a little competition. The crowds are growing and baseball is really starting to take off in Las Vegas and the surrounding areas.
Ed: Well, Allen, it is great to have someone of your stature join us here today, especially someone that has given back so much to the community and genuinely loves coming out to the park. I understand you have also decided to get back into another sport that some of the folks out here might be familiar with.
Allen: That is very true. As some of your listeners may know, I got my start in professional wrestling as a youngster in here in Chicago and I have recently decided to continue my career in that sport and want to let everyone know that I would appreciate their support as I continue my career in the World Championship Federation and that the next show is this Monday night.
Ed: I will be sure to tune in on Monday night and the rest of the White Sox faithful should as well as we have a day off and will be preparing for a 3 game homestand against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The word floating around the clubhouse is that next Sunday is a big event for you as you are trying to win your first championship since your return to the ring.
Allen: That’s right Ed. I have a United States Championship title match against a very formidable opponent next Monday at WCF Blast and I hope to finally have the word “champion” associated with my name once again. It will not be quite as impressive as the championship that this very team took home in 2005, but it will be a start. Hopefully 2009 will bring championships for both me and the city of Chicago.
Ed: We have some work to do if we want to hoist that World Series trophy once again, but you never know, the season is still young as we are not yet to the All-Star break and sit just 5 games back of the Tigers, but let’s home that we only have to wait a few weeks before Slickie T brings a title back to Chicago. Allen, I hate to cut you short, but it looks like this inning is about over and we’ve got some sponsors to get to. Thanks for joining me up here and good luck with your wrestling career and as always, thank you for everything you have done for this great city.
Allen: Ed, it has been a pleasure and I will be sure to bring any championships I happen to win back to U.S. Cellular Field for all the great fans of the White Sox and the great citizens of Chicago. Good luck with the rest of the season I will be sure to check up on you guys every now and then and see how that quest for another World Series ring is coming.
Both men share a chuckle as Allen removes the headset and shakes hands with Ed before making his way back out of the room and down the elevator once again. This time he is led all the way down the hallway and exits U.S. Cellular Field through a backdoor that leads to a small area where a vehicle is waiting to escort Guiliano back to the airport where he will board a plane to the location of the next WCF event. He slowly steps into the backseat of the vehicle and the door is shut behind him as he glances to his left and sees a WCF cameraman waiting for him. A smirk forms from his lips and he address the lens that is now just a few inches from his face.
Before I get started on my opponent this week, I just want to thank my last two opponents, Jack of Blades and Logan for my new found fame in cities all over the country that like to call me a “native”. It seems that no matter where I go, another town is laying claim to Slickie T and calling me “their son”. And let me tell you, I owe it all to the Team of Treachery for letting me waltz into their world atop of the WCF and sending them back up the ramp that brought them to the ring in defeat. Some people are calling me the greatest newcomer in the HISTORY of the WCF, while others wait to see how long it will take me to capture gold before honoring me with that title. So before I go on about this week’s match with Ryan Daniels, I just wanted to give credit where credit was due and thank those who have allowed me to make a splash in the WCF and allow me to do all the interviews that have come my way since my last victory over Logan at Slam. I’ve been able to travel the country, meet all kinds of media personnel, and establish myself as a bonafied superstar in the WCF.
But enough about me, let’s get on to what really matters, my opponent this week at Slam, Ryan Daniels. Ryan, it seems that you are in this match not because there is anything between us, or because you have shown anyone that you belong in the ring with the top tier of superstars in the WCF, but simply because you have an ongoing feud with a man I will face NEXT WEEK for the United States Title, Mikami. I don’t know what kind of credentials a feud with Mikami gets you here in the WCF, but from the booking of this week’s card, it looks like quite a bit. Either that or Seth finally came to his senses after sending me through the gauntlet the last three weeks and decided to give me a week off. I know, I know, I shouldn’t take any opponent lightly, but let’s be honest here. Two weeks ago, I pinned one of the best the WCF has to offer in Jack of Blades and everyone dubbed it an upset, then, just one week later, pinned a LEGEND here in the WCF in Logan to push my record to 3-0. Now, I find myself in the ring with a guy who was couldn’t get it done last week against a newcomer in D-Day and a guy that I DESTROYED in a triple threat match in my debut, Chris Avery. Not sure what message that sends to the fans of the WCF, but to me, I see it as a simple tune up for my United States Title shot next week at Blast. You can use these words as whatever motivational material you want, but after Blast next week, after I have the United States Title, you and Mikami can continue your little feud down here in the world of middle carders, while I continue my rise to the top of the WCF. Ryan, you can prepare all you want, but the streak will continue and I will make it a perfect 4-0 in the WCF. You’re no Jack, you’re no Logan, and hell, after last week, I’m not even sure you are a Chris Avery. I hope that for your sake, you get an opponent that is more on your level at Blast or on the next edition of Slam, because this week you are out of your league my friend. Oh, and before I go, another thank you to Seth for giving me a break this week. It will be nice to get a little recovery time in before Blast, but I guess it’s only fair since Mikami has the week off as well.
Allen leans back against the black leather seat as he turns his attention away from the camera and to the road ahead. A confident smile can vaguely been seen as he gives a sarcastic wave to the camera and covers the lens with his and as the screen fades to black.
