Old friends and new beginnings

[Night Rider]

The full moon played hide and seek with the clouds as he walked down the old familiar road. It had been so long since he'd been here. The road was overgrown with weeds and full of potholes. The surrounding forest looked like it was creeping closer and closer to the road. He wondered what the old place would look like as memories of happy times came flooding back. It seemed like a lifetime ago. Oh well, it was time to make some new memories in an old place. There was nothing like coming home.

The wind began to pick up and the clouds began winning the game with the moon as he found the path that led up to the stone frontage. To his right he could see the entrance to the old cemetery. In front of him stood what was left of the old house. On the right side of the house was the driveway that led to the garage, to the left was the sidewalk leading to the entrance. He grabbed the for sale sign and broke it in half as he grabbed the keys out of his jacket pocket and unlocked the door. It squeaked loudly as it swung open. He stepped inside and nearly pissed his pants when it quickly slammed shut behind him.

Johnny Blaze
What took you so long? Hell I've been here an hour already.

Night Rider
What the fuck! How in the hell?

Johnny Blaze
Did you think you were just going to leave me there? Did you think I wouldn't follow you? How the fuck could you do me like that?

Night Rider
Look I love you but you are not ready for this. I didn't want you involved here. I was going to contact you as soon as I was able to. It took too long to find you and I wouldn't risk losing contact like that again.How could you even think that I could.

Johnny Blaze
Mom always said that you never followed things through.

Night Rider
Your mom was a fucking idiot. May she rest in peace because she doesn't deserve hell.

Johnny Blaze
Don't say that. I know she made some mistakes but...

Night Rider
But hell! She kept you from me for 18 years and I will never forgive her for that!

Johnny Blaze

So what happens now? Why do you say that I am not ready? I won the Honor Championship and kicked some butt back there.
I think I can handle myself pretty well.

Night Rider
Look son, I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't take care of yourself but this is a whole different level. I have a history here and I wouldn't want you paying for my past sins. That's all.

Johnny Blaze
Well if anyone has a problem with you then that makes it my problem too! You are my father and if you have a problem with that then it's too damn bad. Deal with it!

Night Rider
Well, I guess it is what it is. At least I know that I can trust you. It will be nice busting some heads together. First you have to finish healing from your concussion. You haven't cleared protocol yet. Plus I want you to get the feel for the WCF. Like I said It's a whole new ballgame here. You have to watch your back every second. Oh yeah how in the hell did you find this place?

Johnny Blaze
Easy, searching purchase records through your account. It showed where you bought the place. All I want to know is why here?

I purchased it for the original Angels of Death back when we first started out.

Johnny Blaze
Was that the WCF?

Night Rider
No that was the ESW. After that I was in the ACW and when that closed I joined the Dub with a couple other guys from there. we came in cocky and did pretty well but we made some enemies along the way because we didn't respect those who came before. That was where we made our biggest mistake. Guys like the great Odin and Jayson Price have been busting their asses here for years along with a host of other greats. My personal favorite was Skyler Stryker. I never knew him personally because he was before my time but he was one tough son of a bitch who didn't know the word quit. I want you to watch the greats here now and how they carry themselves. Whether you are a good guy or a bad guy you still need to know a little humility and respect. Don't ever forget that!

Johnny Blaze
Wow, words of wisdom from the great Night Rider. You were no pansy from what I could find out. You did win a few championships. I know a little bit about all that because it's in my blood. Besides, I'll be learning from one of the best. How could I go wrong. Now about this place?

Night Rider
I know it needs some work but it's been sitting empty for years. No one else wanted to buy it from the bank.

Johnny Blaze
Why is that? It needs a little more than some work.

Night Rider
Because the place is haunted. I don't care if you believe in the supernatural or not but I have seen enough to convince me. I'll get some people to come in and clean the place up. Day Labor places always has some down on his luck bum looking to do anything for a buck. In the meantime how about we head over to the gym and get a workout or two in before hitting the bar and celebrating?

Johnny Blaze
Sounds like a plan to me but first we need to take care of something else.

Night Rider
Yeah and what would that be?

Johnny reaches over and picks up his pipe from the small table beside him and begins filling it with weed.

Johnny Blaze
I made a stop in Amsterdam before coming here. I thought we should smoke some good shit for a change.

Night Rider
Now that sounds like a plan!

A number of hours and more than a few beers later we find Night Rider and his son Johnny Blaze inside the Jukebox Saturday Night club in Round Lake Illinois. They are sitting across from each other in a booth at the back of the club in the shadows. The two of them seem to be in deep discussion.

Night Rider
Lebron James is NOT the greatest Michael Jordan is!

Johnny Blaze
No It's Lebron James, he did it with a lot less talent around him!

Night Rider
How many rings does Lebron have? That's what it's all about, winning. Besides that how many game sevens was MJ in during the finals? None that's how many! He didn't need it to get that far.

Johnny Blaze
Just wait, now that he is in L.A. with the Lakers he will win a few more.

Night Rider
Yeah right, and it's going to snow in August too. Who with? A gangsta rapper who's daddy runs his business and some wanna be superstars? L.A. won't make it to the quarters let alone the playoffs period. They will implode long before that happens.

At that moment a hot blond waitress walked over to their table with a couple of fresh drinks on her tray.

Waitress
Compliments of the gentleman at the bar there. He would like to speak with you for a second. He said it's business only.

Night Rider
Excuse me a moment Johnny. Let me see what this guy wants.

Night Rider walked up to the bar while the waitress went on to her next table.

Night Rider
Thanks for the drinks now what's this all about?

Jeez what the fuck are you some kind of machine or something popping off questions like that. I came back to the Dub because it's home to me. I don't know yet what the future holds for me there. All I know is I am going to do everything I can to win as much as I can.

What about the AoD?

If I see that times are such that I need to bring them back I will. However Denise has been doing her own thing for some time now and doing it quite well. I don't see her making an appearance. Like I said who knows what the future holds. Now if you will excuse me my son and I were having a drink.

There was no answer as Night Rider rejoined his son at the table and the two of them returned to their conversation.
