Pope Francis, still in perfect health, had this to say when questioned:
"I decided to step down and give this new guy a shot, but I'm going to have my Arch-Bishop hit me in the back of the head with a crowbar so it looks like he was just handed this honorinstead of earning it. Because that's the kind of thing I do."
The Vatican thus far has released no official statement to support this decision.
I for one would like to congratulate O'Neal on becoming the 267th Pope.
When pressed, several Bishops confirmed suspicions by stating that O'Neal was given this opportunity simply because he happened to be in the building at the time.
In an unrelated topic, O'Neal has also been given the keys to the city of New York for roughly the same reason.
