SportsCenter returns from commercial with Nicole Briscoe seated before the Big Screen. Her teased blonde mane frames her face and cascades down her shoulders as she waits a moment then begins to speak.
Briscoe: Finally this morning, we turn to the world of professional wrestling. Normally not the realm of SportsCenter last night events unfolded in a small gym that is a subsidiary of the Wrestling Championship Federation. We take you now to Pop's gym and wrestling insider Hank Brown, with the rest of this fantastic story. Hank, what can you tell us?
There is for a short few moments a split screen showing both Hank and Nicole, then as Hank begins to speak, The image resolves into just him standing in front of a wrestling ring set up in a small gym space. Chairs are being set up around it by crew members in various street clothes under the direction of a short, powerfully built man with a handlebar mustache, grey sweats and a faded blue knit cap.
Hank Brown: That's right, Nicole, I'm here at the gym of former pro wrestler Pop Carver where in just a few days' time there will be an extraordinary occurancw for this small town wrestling gym. Last night it was announced that Pop's weekly House show, which is normally headlined by some pros from the low levels of one of the promotions Pop's feeds, will be playing host to an vent of international proportions!
He pauses for a moment to check his notes before continuing.
Brown: So, apparently the WCF which was supposed to be providing the main event for this week's show, was unable to send anyone due to technical issues and a tour bus breakdown. Therefore Pops was able to call in a favor and get hsison in law, seven time Japan National Wrestling Alliance Champion K-Dogg, who has rarely wrestled in this country but brings with him a world wide following, and his wife, Pop's daughter Bridgette. K-Dogg will be stateside for one night only but what a night! There will be a meet and greet, signing and he will participate in the Main Event for the how here. And that, ladies and gentlemen is where the story gets interesting...
He turns then and is joined by Pops, who stands with folded arms, almost unconsciously flexing as he does so.
Brown: Pops, so you have a relative coming in for this main event, correct? But that's not the interesting part?
Pops: Yes, he is, but no, Hank, it's not. Honestly the most interesting thing in this match is his opponent. You see, Hank, I might have found any number of wrestlers to face off against, the Beast, K-Dogg. But I didn't get just anyone. I got someone who despite his record, undefeated in 123 consecutive appearances, despite his history, seven time World Heavyweight Champion, despite everything, VOLUNTEERED to step into the ring with K-Dogg. It's a relative newcomer, someone who I would not have thought to even ask. But who would not be nay sayed. There isn't even real things to hype about this... Standing at five and a half feet tall to K-Dogg's almost seven feet, and weighing a hundred and change to his nearly four hundred, she is the Amazon!
Hank Brown looks nearly floored.
Brown: She? You sre pitting a girl up against K-Dogg? Are you serious?
Pops gestures to a Main event poster that is being hung up.
Pops: You're damned right, I am. This was her choice and her dream. I argued, but she would not be gainsaid. Therefore, Tomorrow night, here at Pop's Wrestling Center in Hunt's Point, New York... The Amazon Versus K-Dogg!
Hank Brown looks too stunned for words, the scene quickly cuts back to the ESPN studio where Nicole Briscoe concludes the show.
Briscoe: And they say girls get no opportunities... That's it for tonight, folks. Have a good Tuesday and See you bright and early on Wednesday, This is SportsCenter, I'm Nicole Briscoe, have a great morning!
The shot goes to a wide one with credits rolling.
