Could be right there boss. In order to make sure we don't have issues, we would have to be very selective of "membership" and create a Council to moderate that one board. After thinking about it, as much as I think many of us here enjoy a good debate, it may be too much.

That said, though, I expect everyone to be able to talk like normal functioning adults on the OOC forum. So there's that.
I'll never understand people that get so angry/offended by someone's thoughts or opinions that they want them banned or silenced. It doesn't change reality, it doesn't change that they think, it doesn't change anything. It's a yearning for ignorance, and I kinda despise it. I could have eight full on racists join and they could post "I HATE BLACK PEOPLE" all the time and I wouldn't ban them - I mean, I'd probably reply and tell them why they shouldn't be racist and stuff - but what does banning them do? They are still racists and they're still out there thinking what they think. I'd rather talk shit out with people I disagree with than try to silence them. I dunno.

I agree to an extent. If someone remains civil about it, then I'm all for debates and discussions. If they are uncivil about it, then no.

I think of someone was on here spouting racial slurs or spreading hate for hates sake they should be banned. That's just the type of behavior we shouldn't tolerate IMO. But if people come here and say 'I believe in white supremacy because A,B,C...' And they are well thought out and articulate points, even though I may disagree I would be more fine with it. But hating to hate could lead us all down a bad hole.

If someone was being that stupid it would just be for attention and we shouldn't give them that attention here. It wastes our time and nothing else. Maybe they should be allowed to stay here, but no one should talk to them because that wouldn't deserve a response.

But hating to hate could lead us all down a bad hole. I get that. But I still thinks its an emotional response that doesn't solve anything. Why would we ban people spouting racial nonsense? A. Because we don't want them to influence others and make them think racial shit is true - this wouldn't happen, and to assume it would gives their thoughts credence B. Because we want to pretend people that think these things don't exist and by banning them we can ignore them - yeah but this doesn't change real life Honestly if someone has well thought out opinions about something horrible, odds are, I won't change that opinion and I won't bother to try. You can educate against ignorance, but i think changing hate is something more than the internet can provide. I dunno, WCF doesnt also have to say that it is its job to change anyones shitty opinion and can just ban people when theyre too shitty, that is perfectly fine. But thinking about the WHY of why we ban people or feel the need to ban people is interesting.

I mean lets be honest, wars get started over opinions and thoughts on things. They will and will always be hot button topics. If we could stay away from things like politics, the fed itself will just be more friendly. There is so much to debate and talk about, I don't think politics are ever a good thing to discuss with someone who has different views than you.
And for real, if a legit white supremacist came in here talking about how black people are terrible, is there any point that they could make that would make you think "Oh thats well thought out"? No. There isn't. Because we aren't monsters.
I am all for debates and discussions, I just honestly believe there is any reason to talk about politics ever. Its too touchy. Same thing with that 9/11 thread. Its just a touchy, hot button topic.

If everyone is thinking the same thing, no one is thinking. I think Franklin said that or someone like him. If somebody gets mad that someone has a different view than they do, then that is a fundamental issue with their method of working through problems and solutions. You could try to convince me all day that socialism works, and I wouldn't get mad that you think that. I may get frustrated if the facts I would present are met with opinions, because that's not how a debate works. There's no reason to be afraid to discuss things that are so important to the survival of mankind as a whole because you might upset someone's feelings, that's the way I see it.

What purpose does a political debate have on the boards here other than to push agenda's or upset someone though? None. Zero. Nadda.
You wanna post about how Kevin Owens is the best wrestler in WWE, go ahead.
You wanna post about how Donald Trump is the best option for America, I call bullshit and a fight starts. Its a courtesy to people here to not try to start conflict. I don't understand why politics NEEDS to be discussed openly here.
I mean, whatever, I nose out of threads like that already, I am just saying everyone knows what discussing stuff like that does, I don't get its purpose.
