Biography
Alexander James was born on the 2nd of February, 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee to Daniel James and Jane Mallory. He began studying martial arts at the age of six by taking up Taekwondo. By the age of twelve he began studying Wing Chun, and by the age of fourteen he was studying Fencing. To this day he remains active in all three arts. He graduated Frasier High School in 1976 and was accepted into Virginia Military Institute where he would graduate in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science. He was immediately commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Regiment. He was promoted a year later to First Lieutenant and assigned to the 5th Special Forces in 1980. He was deployed to El Salvador in 1981 to serve as a military advisor and help train government forces in counterinsurgency. The following year he was assigned to Delta Force, and was deployed with that unit in 1983 in Grenada for Operation Urgent Fury. In 1984 he was promoted to the rank of Captain a month before his twenty-sixth birthday and retired from the U.S. Army as a Captain in 1985. Alexander James began his wrestling career in 1986 in the DOWF as Krow, a gimmick of a painted clown with plans for world domination. He won his first World Championship later that year in the IWFL and met Andre Uriel Bates, his future brother-in-law who at the time was going by Psycho Klown. The two formed the tag team Killer KlownZ. In 1990 Alexander James founded Golanv Enterprises, a company that helped independent wrestling promotions get national television time. The beginning of the company was difficult, and nearly failed multiple times, however it soon steadied out making James a multi-millionaire. In 1992, along with Andre Uriel Bates, Sickle, and Scott Stonewall, Alexander formed the Dark Riders Gang Motorcycle Club as both a wrestling stable, and an actual motorcycle club. In 1994 Brandon Lee died during the filming of the movie “The Crow.” Alexander James was a friend of Brandon Lee, and took on the character “The Crow” Eric Draven in honor of him. The Crow character was determined to restore decency and honor to wrestling by violently targeting all heels. After seeing the large number of other wrestlers using the same gimmick, he changed his stage name to his real name in 2003. He would soon retire in 2005 at the age of forty-seven after securing thirty-two World Championships, hundreds of other titles, and a dozen Hall of Fame inductions. He soon turned his focus on Golanv Enterprises, now a multi-billion-dollar company primarily dealing in media, real estate, and weapons manufacturing. He is one of the top fifty richest people in the world, and has founded various charities helping children learn martial arts for both self-defense and sport. |
