After Match
The camera opens up backstage and we see Severan King walking through the curtain. He is drenched in sweat from his match with Psychopomp and Ace. His body is bruised and battered. The camera watches him walk around for a moment as if he is unsure as to what just happened. He slicks back his hair and continues to look down at the ground. He paces for a moment and then spots the camera on him.
King: What just happened?! I go out there expecting a triple threat match and this lunatic starts bringing in weapons?! No! That is not how things go down. Then that ingrate of a ref doesn’t even disqualify him for using weapons? What kind of backwater promotion is being ran here? I get knocked out of the ring because he wanted to use something against me. We all know that if it came down to it and it was a one on one match he couldn’t hang. Psychopomp you really need to understand that this is a wrestling company. Not some backyard federation where you can do anything you want. This is not a playground little boy. You are lucky I was knocked out of the ring and you had a chance to escape with a win. Regardless I am still undefeated.
King looks directly into the camera. We notice a small trickle of blood coming down from his forehead. He raises his hand to the streak and wipes it away. King shakes his head at the camera and then walks away. The camera fades to black.

We open up and see Severan King standing around a grill. People are all around him dressed to comfort and not to be aesthetically pleasing. Kids frolic and play in the sprinklers that are running. Adults sit around picnic tables and chat with one another. We see King move around to a table and grab a drink of what appears to be some lemonade. Several other adults are laughing and watching the kids have fun.
King: Ok so everything looks ready. Who wants a hot dog?
A couple of kids run over and King starts putting dogs on their plates.
King: Now I know we weren’t able to get together on the fourth. But everyone knows that I think that holidays should be with family. Now I know we are a church family but I love spending time with my family and I know each of you do as well.
King continues to distribute food to the congregation.
King: So glad everyone could make it out today. It has been absolutely beautiful out today.
King’s phone rings.
King: Hello?
There is a frantic voice on the other end.
King: What?! Slow down! What do you mean someone broke into my grandparent’s house?! Is everyone ok? He’s dead?
King tosses his phone across the field. He jumps up and rushes to the parking lot. The cameraman rushes to catch up with King. Both men get into the car sitting outside. King floors the peddle and the car jerks off and causes the tires to squeal. The cameraman focuses on the road. We watch as King bobs and weaves in and out of traffic, narrowly avoiding several crashes. The cameraman begins to shake at the recklessness of King’s driving. The camera switches its focus between the road and King. King’s expression is that of anger. King glances at the camera.
King: Why are you filming? Shut that shit off NOW!
The camera fades to black.

The next scene opens and we see a woman in a blue business suit, her hair is cut short, and she has a microphone in her hand. The bottom of the screen we see a news ticker. She fixes her hair and then looks at the cameraman.
Cameraman: Ok Judy in 3…2…1…
The cameraman does a countdown with his hand as well. After he hits one he points a finger towards Judy.
Judy: This is Judy Smith reporting for channel three news from down on Bishop Street where behind me a murder has taken place. Earlier this evening someone made their way into this home and proceeded to kill the home owner, Avery King. No word on what happened to Avery’s wife, Mary, as police are still trying to locate her.
The camera zooms in on the house as Judy is speaking. Off to the side of the frame we see a man pushing his way through the crowd. The guy is fighting with the crowd to make his way to the front. The camera pans back over to Judy the news lady.
Judy: No one is sure as to the cause behind this heinous attack. Police are baffled as to the motive behind it. I earlier spoke with police chief Vinceti and he commented on the family. He spoke about how Avery was a veteran who loved his neighborhood. Avery was seventy two.
A man breaks past the police barricade. Quickly the cops surround him and put him on the ground. The man screams and kicks. We see an officer pull out a baton and gets ready to swing it at the man now laying on the ground.
Man: Stop! I just heard that my grandpa was killed.
The cop stops mid swing he reaches down and pulls the man up with the assistance of the other cops surrounding him.
Cop 1: What do you know about all of this?
Man: My name is Severan King and Avery is my grandpa. I got a call and rushed right over here. Let me get my ID out and show you I’m not lying.
The cop backs off for a moment and King reaches into his back pocket and pulls out his wallet. He shows the cop his identification. The cop takes a look at it and then motions for someone else to come over. A man looking of authority comes over and speaks with the first cop. The camera pans back over to Judy our news reporter.
Judy: It appears the police are now questioning a man after trying to detain him. One can only wonder about who this man is. Hopefully we can get some words with him shortly.
The camera pans back over to King and the police. We watch as they talk back and forth. King seems to be very animated during the discussion. The police walk King to the edge of the crime scene tape and make him step behind the tape. We watch as Judy motions towards the cameraman and they walk over towards King.
Judy: Excuse me sir may I have a word with you?
King turns to the camera and then looks at the reporter.
Judy: You tried to jump the line. What was all that about?
King: My grandfather is the man they found. They are still looking into it but I already know who is behind this. Dat Hawt American Darkness is behind this. They would stop at nothing to make their point. They’ve been playing with me, wanting me to snap. Well guess what? You’ve pushed me beyond that point. You wanted me to snap then you will reap what you sow. ZMac you’ve made a grave mistake messing with me. You and Mikey think this is some kind of game? You do not fuck with someone’s family. This is a point you do not cross and you guys have managed to do just that. You two think you are hardcore? You think that you two are the best this company has to offer? You think that no one will ever come through and plant your asses in the ground? It is over. No more Mr. Nice King. I’m done dealing with you guys and people like you. God never said I had to be a good person. No I was doing that of my own accord.
Judy: So you’re saying that two guys were behind all of this? What was their reasoning?
King: Their motivation? These aren’t the kind of people that need motivation to do evil things. They think that they can do whatever the hell they please. No one messes with my family and can expect to get off lightly. I am a man of God but I am also a man of family. ZMac may have a monopoly on the internet championship but this isn’t for that worthless piece of junk that can be defended with just two words. Zombie it seems to me that you need to be put back in the ground and made an example of. You are a joke in WCF. The sooner you realize this the better you will be in the long run. Nothing you have done is of note. You have fought peon after peon and now you get to face some real men. Kevin Bishop is no joke and he holds a real title. Something I’m sure you know nothing about that. Mikey is nothing more than a hardcore want to be. Nothing to be made of himself.
Judy holds her hand up to her ear and seems to be listening to someone from the other end.
Judy: Mr. King aren’t you a leader of a church? I mean isn’t what you are saying right now kind of contradictory to what you preach?
King: I am a leader. A leader of men. However, this is now personal. I’m done with these petty games that people tend to play. The rules have changed. They changed when my family was brought into this and people will see a side of me that they have yet to see.
King reaches out and turns the camera away from himself. He turns back towards the police outside the home again. He yells at one of the cops and they walk over. They exchange words for a moment and then walk off to a vehicle and hop in together. The camera watches the car pull off and towards the direction of the police station. Fade to black.
(Sorry this isn't up to my usual works. Been a long crazy week.)
