July 19th, Smackdown begins airing live every Tuesday... and it will mark the beginning of a brand split. Per WWE.COM. A draft is "imminent".
Big news!

This will be a good way for guys that would be ignored to get some spotlight since we are the the midst of the new talent that has come in the past few months.
Interested in who they stick on Smackdown and if they keep the WWE WHC on just Raw or both.

I haven't watched Smackdown in three years and don't plan on changing that any time soon. Hopefully they don't put anybody interesting over there :/

I think 5 hours of wrestling in two nights (8 hours+ over 3 nights on PPV weeks) is wayyy too much. I dont see how they can make it work.

Hopefully this will lead to the matches having a more important feel.
They have had a REEEEALLY bad habit of having the same match card on RAW and Smackdown, thus rendering watching both shows completely meaningless.
I'm not saying anything will be must-see TV, but I should not feel indifferent about missing a show lol.

With split rosters it will be impossible to have the same match on both shows, so that's good.

Pretty much every positive I see people talk about with brand splits WWE proved they won't bother making happen last time. There's a reason they ended it. I can't imagine what Raw is going to be like for three hours losing any portion of the roster. I enjoy watching on Monday nights, so I'm not hyped about the possibility of the guys I like ending up on Tuesday.

EVERYBODY WANTED A BRAND SPLIT TIL THEY GOT A BRAND SPLIT
or at least, the internet apparently did. All the forums and stuff I read acted like the brand split would be a saving grace, and now those same people are having second thoughts. I think it's a great idea and I'm pretty damn pumped for that draft.

I like wrestling. Whatever they do I'm on board with.

I'm definitely excited! I actually think they have been moving in the right direction with certain things and with the success of NXT, I cant help but wonder if they will really make one of their shows (Smackdown most likely) a real, good wrestling show like NXT. Move the crazy talented dudes to Smackdown, have good storylines and builds, and let Vince keep Raw for his variety show weirdo shit. I'll probably watch both still, I don't see how my family will let me have the TV two nights in a row but hopefully I can make it happen!

I'll probably watch both still, I don't see how my family will let me have the TV two nights in a row but hopefully I can make it happen! This is kinda the most disappointing thing, I agree with you, Raw has been awesome since Wrestlemania. So the idea of splitting that awesome in half... I'm also heavily invested in watching Lucha Underground and NXT every week, big New Japan shows, I still watch TNA most of the time, I watch stuff like Camp WWE and the Edge and Christian show... Being able to skip Smackdown was really, really nice. It's kind of crazy to have to complain about too much wrestling to watch, yeah. Also, on the subject of PPVs, we either get brand only PPVs which feature matches that don't belong on PPV... or every PPV is both brands, which means that a huge part of the roster on each show doesn't even make it to the PPV, which means they don't get storylines written for them, which means we get wasted air time. I know it seems unlikely, but I'm not totally sure that we're not going to end up with "NXT Smackdown" or something like that. I know the popular theory is that The End is referencing the Joe/Balor feud, but who knows. They've made NXT the hottest thing they've got while Smackdown has been basically the "meaningless matches and Raw recaps" show - why not capitalize on NXT and make a show that's an actual alternative to Raw that is going to generate good will and excitement about the product? Then the Raw vs Smackdown rivalry that is bound to develop isn't just between two different shows that are essentially the same - it's two different shows with different tones and styles. That said, NXT just isn't NXT if it's in front of large scale WWE audiences so maybe that doesn't really work. Meh, I dunno.

They could have NXT Smackdown but still have NXT on the Network. The Network would be more developmental than it is now, with Smackdown being the more "ready" guys/girls.
I really feel that even if it isn't branded NXT, Smackdown will have the same type of feel as NXT as a pure wrestling show and a roster of cool Indy guys but with WWE production and money thrown at it. Didnt the NXT head writer just go to Smackdown a month ago or so?
Live is always better anyway. No spoilers. I'd actually prefer to watch a two hour Smackdown and skip three hours on Monday if possible.
