The reason why people dislike history is because it paints a horrid picture of what our ancestors did to other people, and some of those ancestors were treated horribly as a result. Nobody wants to relive the horrid conditions of their ancestors, and as a result, history is considered "boring" if not outright "hated">
But history needs to be studied, in order to learn from the mistakes of those in the past. If Hitler had been paying attention in his history classes instead of doodling off the side of his books, he would have learned you just don't send any units to fight a war in Russia during the winter. You just don't do it. Especially units that were not suited for cold environment after being in a desert environment for so long. Acclimation is not just for people, but also for equipment.
If Hitler had payed attention, that would also be a potential bit of ugly alt history that could've happened and adversely affected us, as well.

In seeing only the bad parts of history, people have lost sight of the good parts.
For example; race relations in America have always been bad. Slavery, segregation, violent and fanatical racism that still exists even today. However, if you look to the good parts, you can find the history that deserves to be told. Well respected men such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams advocated the abolition of slavery. Men such as Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson and Bushrod Johnson, both future Confederate Generals, defied law and helped slaves to be educated, or even escape to freedom in Canada. The U.S.C.T., Booker T. Washington, WEB DuBois, Martin Luther King Jr, and more. History, although full of bad things, are also full of good things. Otherwise, how would humanity have improved to where we are now? It's not perfect, but it's better than it used to be.

So Kat is taking a leave of absence... Is there still a desire among the WCF community to have a podcast?
