AJ Styles shouldn't even be this far, I mean, he hasn't accomplished nearly what all these other guys have. He should lose this for sure, otherwise there's some real bias in these votes just because people love AJ, which I do too, but he hasn't impacted and changed the face of the business like Bret did. Hell, Bret and Shawn are the reason people like AJ can even be successful in WWE.

I feel like Bret had a pretty sweet career, but he never realized his full potential. I mean, people knew exactly what he was capable of, but he never quite got there. AJ went and amassed popularity in companies that weren't WWE and now he has an entire career ahead of him there, barring any serious injury. I'm gonna go with AJ for that.
I do love Bret though.

I think this entire idea of "Oooh he's an Indy guy who the IWC loved pre-WWE so we must love him" schtick has really gone way passed what it should be. Sure, AJ Styles is a great wrestler, but what was mentioned here was that he has an entire career AHEAD of him. Meaning things that he "might do" ... yeah, he's a cool Indies guy. Got it. But Bryan Danielson was THEE guy for every IWC mark and look at what happened with him. There is no guarantees on anyone's future. If this poll was twenty years from now and Styles managed to have more of a career than Bret Hart did, great ... I'd vote for him then. But this is now, and his career doesn't compare to Bret Hart's by a longshot. Being the new Indy guy flavor of the month doesn't cut it.

But this is now, and his career doesn't compare to Bret Hart's by a longshot. Being the new Indy guy flavor of the month doesn't cut it. You've overstating Bret's career. He was THE GUY during WWF's lowpoint, and he did nothing in WCW. I think he's one of the best wrestler's of his generation! I love him. But if you're talking career, he can't stand up to AJ in any capacity. AJ Styles built TNA. TNA may not have ever rivaled WWE - but AJ Styles built it to a point that people that that maybe it could. Then he went to New Japan, and at long last became more than just "the TNA guy that wasn't pushed enough and had the great matches," New Japan made him a star. He drew there - Styles vs Ibushi drew more than anyone could have expected IIRC - and was part of bringing a lot of American eyes to NJPW. And now he's main eventing WWE. Styles doesn't have the "WWE main event" pedigree Bret does, and Styles wasn't part of the Montreal Screwjob, but his body of work, wrestling wise, is better, and his influence is understated at the moment.

I agree with Dag, I know right? But without Bret and Shawn the style of wrestling we watch today may not exist. However, I feel that Bret Hart is a giant douchebag. Still, I voted for Bret.

This poll, like most of them has made me very angry. He is "The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be" for a reason, GOD DAMN IT!
(Because it's true)

I totally missed this one somehow... And totally would have voted Bret too. Alas. The masses have spoken.

Wished I woulda caught this poll sooner. I woulda voted Bret.
It's not just that Bret had an awesome moveset, but he was a strategist in the ring. He could focus on a body part, and do 50 different moves to target that one spot. Then his feud against Stone Cold proved that he could brawl, and also that he can change strategy in mid match with great results.
I hate Bret Hart, but greatly admire his ability. His only real downfall was his lack of back stage politics. He was a worker, but ultimately everyone else decided what he should do. He never took the initiative in his own career.

So if you two slackers had voted, Bret would have won. I think you were deliberately distracted so Styles would win.
