The scene opens as Night Rider is sitting at his desk after just returning from his latest mission. His boss steps out of his office and points towards him.
Mr. Hendricks: Night Rider, I want to see you in my office NOW!
Night Rider looked at him with a thousand thoughts running through his mind. What did he do this time? How much longer was he going to put up with the bullsh!t around here? He loved the work but the boss was a real pain in the @$$! He thought this would be something he could do to keep himself busy in the PW, post wrestling world. He would take a mission here and there if he wanted. Hendricks didn't feel the same way. Hendricks kept insisting on sending him on all the $hit missions. He stood up and followed Hendricks into his office and had barely sat down before the boss started tearing into him.
Mr. Hendricks: That's a good ideal. Sit your @$$ down and listen. I agreed to let you join our little group because I thought you knew what you were doing. It's clearly obvious that you don't. You have cost us twenty grand just on your last mission. What the hell went wrong?
Night Rider: How in the hell was I supposed to know that there was another person on the ground with a rocket launcher. The informant was in the chopper and heading home. You were the one who gave the all clear when you swept the area with your drones.
Mr. Hendricks: The coordinates you sent to me were programmed into the drone. It didn't pick up anything in the area. You are the one who screwed up.
That was it! He had taken about all that he was going to take. Night Rider stood up and grabbed Hendricks by the front of his shirt and lifted him off his feet.
Night Rider: So that makes everything my fault? Listen, I don't need this $h!t anymore. You can take your little group and shove it up your @$$! I'm not one of your little b!tches you can talk $h!t to. Your lucky I don't break you into pieces right now.
Security runs into the room and separates the two of them. Night Rider is then escorted off of the property.
He couldn't believe it. Now what the hell was he supposed to do? He turned around suddenly. He could swear that someone was watching him. That happened every now and then. He could be all alone somewhere and still feel like he was being watched. Yet every time he looked there would be no one there. Perhaps he was just so used to having someone else with him that his mind was automatically thinking someone was there. He thought about Denise, his love for her still burned as bright as it ever did. Even though he hadn't seen her since they left the WCF. He really missed wrestling and all of the excitement of competing against the biggest stars around. Maybe the time was right, he had tried living without wrestling being a part of his life but it was no good. He was a wrestler, it was all he knew.
He crossed the street to the parking garage and made his way down to the lower level. Immediately he could see that something was wrong. Every window in his car was busted out and all four tires looked like they had been sliced open. He heard a noise behind him and turned around. Mr. Hendricks was standing there with Oleg, his personal bodyguard. Suddenly two more men appeared behind him.
Mr. Hendricks: Did you think it was going to be that easy to leave the organization? You know way too much about our operations to just walk away like that. My men here will see to it that you don't spread that information around. Have a nice day Night Rider!
Hendricks turned and walked away leaving Night Rider there with his goons. Slowly they began to close in on him. The first one came at him and swung, Night Rider ducked and went to hit him with a left when he was grabbed from behind. Someone was holding him. Two men, one on each side, held him in place. The others closed in on him and the blows began raining down. Then the lights went out.
Pain. His head was pounding. What had happened? Slowly he began to open his eyes. The memories came flooding back. His vision began to clear. He could see the bodies around him. Oleg and the others, all except Hendricks. They were all dead. How? He must have blacked out and lost control. He didn't remember doing it at all. He slowly stood up, he began to get dizzy but it soon passed and he was able to move. He walked over to what was left of his car and grabbed his cell phone out of the glove box. Then he headed towards the elevator and made his way out of the garage.
The moon was shining brightly as he stepped out into the street. He took out his cell phone and turned it on. No good, it shut right back down. The battery must be dead. No way to call a cab now. It looks like he would just have to hoof it back to, back to where? his hotel room had been furnished by The Organization. He could no longer stay there. Suddenly sensing someone was behind him he turned around. Denise was there on her horse looking down at him.
Denise D'Evil: It looks like someone could use a ride.
Her long black hair hung down her back, and the tight leather suit clung to her body, and her dark blue eyes shimmered in the street light. She hops down from the horse and walks to him.
Denise: Come on, we'll go and take care of business before we go home.
Night Rider: Wow, where in the world did you come from? I haven't heard from you or anything in months and yet you always seem to show up when I need you. It was you who took care of them in the parking garage wasn't it? Why did you disappear the way you did?
Denise D'Evil: There were things I had to take care of where you wouldn't be able to go. I had to keep you safe. Yes it was me. They had you way outnumbered and I wasn't going to let them take you out like that. Now should we go after Hendricks or what?
Night Rider: Not just yet. The time will come for us to go after him but not right now. First I really need to take a shower and wash all of this blood off of me.
Denise D'Evil: Then let's go home and plan out what we are going to do from here.
Night Rider: I was wanting to talk to you about that. How about if we go back to the WCF? I can't seem to do anything else but wrestle. It's so much a part of my life.
Denise D'Evil: We'll discuss that further when we get home, come on.
She taps the horse's sides and it rears up as she smiles.
Denise: Are you serious about going back?
Night Rider: I've never been more serious about anything.
Denise: Then it looks like we need to discuss exactly how we are going to do just that. Come on, lets get out of here.
Night Rider climbed onto the back of the horse with her and in a flash they were home. He couldn't believe that she had kept the house and was still residing there. They were up most of the night discussing their plans. When they finished they made love until the early morning hours.
When he woke up Night Rider found a note on the stand next to the bed. 'Don't worry' it said, 'Went to take care of a few things. Meet me at the airport when you get up'. It was just like her. She wasn't much for sleeping and was anxious to get things rolling. He decided that he would get busy also. After showering and having some coffee he headed for the airport. She was waiting for him when he got there.
Denise: It took you long enough to get here. I have our tickets already and we have a meeting with Seth at one o'clock.
Night Rider: Wow, You're really on the ball aren't you?
Denise: Of course. Come on, our plane is boarding now.
Two hours later they were standing in Seth's office.
Seth: Why would I let the two of you come back? You have left me high and dry twice now.
Night Rider: Why? You have to ask why? As much as we have poured our blood and sweat into this organization? You should have known we always come back.
Seth: Kind of like a bad penny.
Denise: Come on, you know we are better than that.
Seth: Okay, I will agree to let you return one last time. If you skip out on me again there won't be another chance. Night Rider, I will book you this week in a Trios cup tournament match with Oblivion and Freezer Burn. You will be taking on Andre Holmes, Sarah Twilight, and Crystal Knight. Denise, I will work you in later. Agreed?
Denise: Works for me. I need to take care of a couple things this week anyway.
Night Rider: Sounds good to me. I'm just ready to get back into the ring. I don't give a $h!t who it's against.
Seth: Well then, welcome back to the WCF!
It was two days later. Night Rider has just finished another workout. He knew that he had kept himself in pretty good shape. It should be no problem stepping back into the ring. His timing may be off a bit at first but when you have been doing this as long as he has it just comes natural. He was really looking forward to stepping back into the ring. He didn't know much about Freezer Burn but what he could find had impressed him. Oblivion had gone through some changes since Night Rider last saw him but he was still the same monster he always was. The three of them should be able to gel together pretty well.
He thought about their opponents. The only one that really stood out was Sarah. Night Rider knew her all too well. You talk about a snake, she was as slippery as one and one of the deadliest. He wondered how long she had been back in the WCF. He knew going up against someone of her caliber wouldn't be easy. Her list of achievements was well documented. He was definitely going to be jumping right into the fire. He also knew that Andre Holmes and Crystal Knight could not be taken lightly at all. Holmes was the current Hardcore and Tag Team Champion. Crystal Knight was a promising rookie with a bright future ahead of her. That is, if she could make it through the daily grind and take the pounding it would put her body through.
He was just about to head for the shower when he heard someone calling his name. He turned to see Hank Brown coming towards him followed closely by a cameraman struggling to keep up with him.
Hank Brown: Night Rider, I can't believe it. It's actually true. You are coming back!
Night Rider: No, I just had Seth schedule me for the fun of it. I'm actually doing ballet now. What, you can't see my tutu?
Hank Brown: Oh so now you're a comedian huh? Come on man. I've been through enough crap lately. Give me a break. What made you decide to come back?
Night Rider: Let's just say that I got bored and needed some stimulation. This $h!t is my life man! You should know that better than anyone.
Hank Brown: I know what you mean there. This place kind of grows on you over the years. How does it feel stepping back into the ring against the likes of Sarah Twilight, Andre Holmes, and Crystal Knight? Pretty tough competition for your first match back isn't it?
Night Rider: Since when did I ever do anything the easy way? This match suits me just fine. It's not like I haven't been keeping myself in great shape. You have to be in shape working for The Organization.
Hank Brown: For those who don't know. What exactly is The Organization?
Night Rider: They take the jobs that the CIA refuses to get involved in. It can get pretty rough sometimes. As for your earlier question, let's start by sizing up the competition shall we. First and foremost there is the so called relentless one Andre Holmes, the current tag team and hardcore champion. I have already taken time to study his matches. The guy is one of the toughest around. However, the one thing about being a tough guy is there will always be someone just a little tougher. I expect to be seeing a lot of him in the near future.
Hank Brown: Why do you say that Night Rider?
Night Rider: Because he has something that I want. You'll find out soon enough. Then of course we have the high and mighty Sarah Twilight. I'm surprised she came down from her golden throne to grace the WCF with her presence. Your highness doesn't scare me one bit! I will be more than ready to take whatever she thinks she wants to dish out. Last but not least there is Crystal Knight, possibly a rookie of the year candidate if she can stick it out. Hell she's been touted more than Kris Bryant was with the Cubs last year. From what I hear she's the best thing going today. We shall see! It's not like our team is nothing. Oblivion is a Hardcore God and can go toe to toe with the best of them. Freezer Burn, you gotta love that name, sounds like one cool cat doesn't it? I have been impressed by what I've seen in his matches. He's definitely got some talent. Then there's me! I'm one bad @$$ son of a b!tc# when I want to be. It doesn't matter to me who I step into the ring with because to me they are all about the same.
Hank Brown: Now how can you say that?
Night Rider: I just did didn't I? Think about it, they are all just another face that you have to defeat to move on. Each one of them would love nothing more than to defeat you. That makes them the enemy no matter who it is. I'm not going to change my game plan whether I am going against Sarah Twilight or anyone else. It's all about survival and moving on to the next round in the Trios Cup Tournament.
Hank Brown: Will the time off affect you at all in the ring?
Night Rider: Not at all. To me it's second nature. It all comes automatically when I step through those ropes. I am actually better now than I have been in a long time. Our opponents will find that out in due time. Now if you will excuse me I need to hit the shower and meet Denise for lunch.
Hank Brown: Thank you, Night Rider for your time. I appreciate it as always.
Night Rider: No problem, dude. See ya around.
He watched as Hank Brown and his little helper walked out of the gym. The poor guy would never be anything more than what he was, a second rate interviewer Seth keeps around because he feels sorry for him. The guy just had no aspirations to get any better. Unlike Night Rider and Denise D'Evil, they were always doing whatever they could to improve and further their careers. He paused for a moment to collect his thoughts. It was still hard to believe that he was going to be stepping back into that ring. It's even harder to believe that he thought he could give all of this up. This was what he lived for. He could no more give it up than he could give up breathing.
He could feel the butterflies already beginning to flutter in his stomach. Not so much nerves as it was pure excitement. He knew they would all be watching him closely. Looking to see if he still had it, hoping to spot each and every weakness. He just laughed. Let them look and let them wonder all they wanted. This time things were going to be a little different than before. he smiled as he stepped into the locker room and closed the door behind him.
