RP Subquest-"CHASE-ing Progenitus" 1/6
Chase is laying down with his eyes closed inside of the chamber he's trapped in. The depression seems to have consumed him. Loneliness and sorrow seem to have conquered his spirit. The demonic creatures close in on him as the only thing separating them from Chase is the cell that he's locked in.
Chase: I can't believe it. After all I've been through. All the fighting I've done for so long. All the blood, sweat, and tears...just for it to end like this. Progenitus was right. I am a failure. If I wasn't, then I wouldn't be trapped here. I'm sorry WCF Universe. I'm sorry Kaiyah. I've failed you all. I'm a loser. I'm worthless. I'm nothing more than ashes. I'm...
Chase sits up and bends his knees so that he could rest his arms on them.
Chase: I'm imperfect...and so is Progenitus. The fact that I'm still here proves that he's not as strong as he wants me to believe. He brought me down because that was the only way he could overtake me. That's where he messed up. I have a chance to literally see my demons face to face and fight them. This is not the end. THIS is the beginning...of retaliation.
He stands up and opens his eyes. When his eyes open, his pupils are engulfed in flames. Step by step, he made his way to the edge of the chamber. As he did so, the creatures slowly backed away from the cell. Chase placed a hand on the cell. Seconds later, smoke began to form around the chamber. Then, out of nowhere, the entire thing was engulfed in flames. Suddenly, there was a white flash. In an instant, Chase was standing on a large platform with an arrow pointing forward at a door. However, the platform got smaller as the distance between it and the door decreased. Chase started off with a calm walk. About halfway there, he found himself tight roping on the platform like a wide receiver trying to stay in bounds while running near the sideline. He looked down and noticed a pit full of spikes begging for him to fail. He began feeling nervous as he realized that the end of the path was essentially impossible for him to walk across. He took a step back and lost his balance, which caused him to fall. In an instinctive act of involuntary desperation, he grabbed onto the edge of the platform. Once more, he looked down, but this time he saw one of the shadowy monsters in the spike pit waiting for him to fall. It was at this moment that he realized that this was one of the things that was holding him back. This was the pressure that he put on himself to feel like he HAS to be better than the person that he was yesterday, and if he wasn't, then all of his hard work was for nothing. He pulled himself up and looked at the door that was labeled "perfection".
Chase: I'm not perfect. I can't expect for every step I take to be a step forward. Sometimes I have to fall down in order to know what it feels like to get back up.
He stares down the shadow and the spike pit. After taking a deep breath, he dives off of the platform. When he does, the shadow cries in pain before evaporating. The spikes disappear and are replaced with a white light.

Kaiyah has finally made it to her hotel suite after a long day. She decides to call Phoenix.
Phoenix: Hello?
Kaiyah: Hey. Is Seth still leaving Marx in that match?
Phoenix: Yep. You know that's how he does.
Kaiyah: Yeah, just be careful in your match this time.
Phoenix: I'll be fine. Hopefully something does happen to Andy so that his blood is on more hands than just mine.
Kaiyah: Oh my God! Why would you say that?
Phoenix: Relax, babe. I'm just kidding.
Kaiyah: You sure, because I don't like how you said that.
Phoenix: Should I have gift wrapped it? Come on. You know I can't babysit the guy. If he decides to show up and wrestle, that's on him.
Kaiyah: I guess you're right.
Phoenix: How was the conference?
Kaiyah: Exhausting!
Phoenix: Don't forget you have the one tomorrow, the one two days after that, then get set for the one next week, and try to catch all your flights in time and-
Kaiyah: Stop. Please. I'm already stressed out.
Phoenix: I was just reminding you, but you sound pretty tired. Have a drink and sleep it off, okay?
Kaiyah: Okay. Night babe. Love you.
Phoenix: Goodnight. Love you too.
The phone call ends. Feeling worn out and stressed out, and having just gotten the green light from Phoenix, Kaiyah uses room service to order herself a bottle of Hennessy.
April 22nd
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
It's pitch black in CJ Phoenix's hotel room as it's about 3 in the morning. All of the lights are off as silence patrolled the room until it was shot down by the sound of a lighter turning on and lighting a small candle in the middle of the room. The candle was broken and appears to be the type that's often used for birthday cakes.
Phoenix: Aftermath. Just a pair of days away. The leech that calls itself Seth has placed me in what he calls a "Trios Clusterfuck Match" with a guy I haven't crossed paths with yet and the guy whose back I destroyed last week as my partners. Shady bastard. Andrew Marx shouldn't even be competing, seeing as the doctors said he can never wrestle again. Of course, leave it to Lerch to try to squeeze every dollar out of the people in this company, no matter how broken they are. Of course, in the event that something tragic happens and Marx ends up in hell with Kitty, his blood will be on your hands, Seth. Is this your way of punishing me for what I did to him last week? If so, you would've done better just handing me a fine. Are you really that desperate and greedy for attention? Are you afraid that I'm just a little more sadistic than you are? Did it bother you to the point that you stuck him with me and Ronan because you just don't like us? Well Seth, I've got some bad news for you, and I'm not talking about Benson. While the guys on the other side may see him as an easy target, I see Andy as one of my greatest weapons heading into the match. He's like a game of Russian Roulette at this point. I say that because someone in this match will be the straw that breaks the camel's back and puts poor Andy in the grave. If it's Justin Sane, then he can kiss his career goodbye before it's even cleared for takeoff. Option B is Occulo. He's the only one of my three opponents that actually has something to gain from this. He can finally do something on his own without riding coattails. Oh wait, nevermind. He'd just be pecking at the scraps after I ate the meal. Finally, there's Andre Holmes. The guy's already being accused of murder. I wonder how his case would look with a second murder charge tacked on. That's why I don't mind having to drag Andrew Marx's broken carcass across the finish line. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time I've led my team to a victory.
Phoenix uses his thumb and index finger to put out the flame on the candle. A few seconds pass before the sound of the lighter is heard a second time. This time, it's a long string to a firework that catches fire.
Phoenix: Then, there's my other partner, Caleb Ronan. Ronan, like many of the people in the WCF, has a lot of potential. However, something's holding him back. At first, I wanted to say it was the usual suspect Seth, but not this time. No, he gets a pass on this one. The guy that's holding Caleb Ronan back the most...is Caleb Ronan.
He puts the flame out and continues talking in total darkness.
Phoenix: You got knocked down by Frozone in your match against him. Oh well. Get your ass up, knock off the dirt, and keep fighting. Seth rejected you? Oh well. Get your ass up. Knock off the dirt. Get pissed off, and go back in there scratching and clawing. Sunday, I don't want to be saddled with a little whiny bitch. I want my tag partner to grow a pair and storm down that ramp. That's how you get Seth's respect. That's how you make a name for yourself, kid. When you see Justin Sane trying to leap frog over you on the WCF ladder, hit him in the nuts on his way up. Then stomp his ankles once he's down. When Occulo steps up to you, look him straight in the eyes with no fear and fight him. Make him earn whatever he gets for once. Then, when you stand face to face with Holmes, be more relentless that him. Don't let any of those guys push you around. If they try to push you, grab their wrists and break them.
CJ sets the firework ablaze again.
Phoenix: That's how a spark turns into a flame. Don't just sit there being a spark, kid.
He puts out the flame before the rocket can go off.
April 23rd
Phoenix: Justin Sane. I wonder how many fried brain cells it took for you to come up with that one. I mean seriously, did you lose a bet or something? Did you draw the short straw out of the stack? The fact that you chose this name offends me. You should be ashamed of yourself for being so damn lazy. Just. In. Sane. Is that your gimmick? You come out to the ring and wow people with your "insanity"? Oh no! His name is a pun on mental instability! Clearly he's a clever and spontaneously unpredictable genius that will have every one at the edge of their seats! Wait a minute. They're not at the edge of their seats? They went to take a piss break because they don't care? Yeah, that makes sense. I would too. Honestly, because Andrew Marx is too battered and bruised to count as a fully capable competitor, this match is essentially 2 on 2; Phoenix and Ronan vs Holmes and Occulo with a cheerleader. After our match, Justin Sane's Aftermath will be him being carried out on a stretcher, thus changing his name to Just In Pain.
Phoenix holds up the flamethrower and lights the banner on fire before walking off. Cormack MacNeill, Johnny Rabid, Tiffany White, Andre Aquarius, Dustin Beaver, and Joey Flash's banners are all passed by before Phoenix stops in front of the one with Occulo's picture on it.
Phoenix: Occulo. One third of the Trios Champions. Well, the bottom third at least. It's funny that your banner is next to Joey's. I would've figured that the people would've been more accurate and placed it in Flash's shadow. Honestly, I'm quite grateful to have the opportunity to take on the weakest link of the Trios Champs. The reason is because I'm in the Trios tournament. You know what that means? That means that you better start praying to every God from the big guy upstairs to Buddha to Zeus to Ra to Allah to Odin and everyone in between that my team isn't the team that you'll be facing for the titles. If we are, then you'll have to explain to Flash and Dune how YOU lost them the gold. Speaking of which, you're a lucky guy, Occulo. You have the talent and in ring abilities. I'll give you that. This by no means will be a walk in the park, but it will be practice for me. You, Dune, and Joey are like the Indianapolis Colts' receivers the year they won the Superbowl. You guys are great, great enough to take home a title even, but like those Indy guys, there are only two REAL stars. Flash and Dune are the Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne of the group while you're...whoever it was that was the third best guy on the offense. Wanna prove me wrong? Well here's your chance, Occulo. No Flash or Dune coattails to ride. This is YOUR chance to shine. It's YOUR opportunity to prove that you're just as good as the guys that have been carrying you for so long. You know, the old me respected you and your group a lot for what you accomplished. Wanna know what happened to him? I left him broken. Just like I left Marx broken. Just like I'll leave Justin broken. Just...like...I'll...leave...YOU...broken. Nothing personal, you're just the right guy to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The leisurely stroll continues. More faces are passed. Grayson Pierce, Zombie McMorris, Kyle Kemp, Mikey eXtreme, Jared Holmes, and Crystal Knight's banners are all seen on the way to Phoenix's final banner stop: Andre Holmes.
Phoenix: And then there's you. The new Hardcore Champion, the self-proclaimed "Relentless" Andre Holmes. You know, ever since I found out that we'll be facing off at Aftermath, I've been thinking about something. Why is it that out of my three opponents, you're the one I'm looking forward to facing the most? Seconds turned into minutes that turned into hours as I searched and searched for an answer. Then, it hit me. Whether you want to admit it or not, you and I are a lot alike. We're both strategic and agile wrestlers that fight and fight until they get the job done. Hell, we both have kicks as finishers. There are even times where it seems like we're riding the same train of thought.
Phoenix puts down the flamethrower and pulls the lighter from last night out of his pocket and uses it to set the banner on fire.
Phoenix: However, there's a huge difference between you and I. You try to run and hide from the fact that you're a monster...just like me. I've accepted my sadistic nature while you fight to try to hold it back. You can't stop it, Andre. There's a darkness in you that you've been hiding for what I think could be years by now. Instead of embracing it, you're simply scared of it. It's a shame that the only person that I've seen bring out that vengeful spirit is no longer with us. That's right. I'm talking about Katherine Phoenix. You despised her. You HATED her! Scratch that. You still hate her to this day. She pushed every one of your buttons. She got allllll the way inside of your head and out the other side. Her existence made your life miserable. Kitty made you lose your lady. Actually, I wanna delve into that a little deeper. Your girl broke up with you, and rather than trying to explain what happened and clear your name, you just gave up on it all and moved on to the new girl. You haven't changed one bit, Andre. You're still that psychotic, selfish asshole. In fact, don't even bring any of that fake ass goodie goodie bullshit. I want to fight the ACTUAL Andre Holmes. Not the puppet in the Andre Holmes mask. Not the wannabe good guy Andre Holmes. Bring the pissed off guy with a seemingly unquenchable thirst for blood. Send me the guy that was angry and K.L. Henson. Be the murderer that you are that killed Katherine Phoenix so that you could try to sweep your monstrous mindset under the rug! This is not me asking. This is me warning you to do this, because if you don't, I'll Talon Kick your balls straight out of the back of your head and break each and every one of your fingernails one at a time with a rusty knife until you either cry your eyeballs out and die or get agitated and unleash your inner darkness once more! The two guys that you're teaming with are just appetizers. To me, it isn't about them. It's just me and you, Andre. Teo Del Sol may wear a mask over his face, but you wear one over your heart, and at Aftermath...I'm going to rip that mask off and burn it so the world can once again see the true evil that is Andre Holmes!
CJ Phoenix laughs as he watches the banner burn. Once it finishes, he picks up the flamethrower and leaves the arena.
