First off, I'd like to say that I'm really enjoying this efed and I'm glad to be a part of it! It's fun to develop storylines and characters and interact with such great people! With that being said, yes, I feel just like the Cincinnati Bengals. They're good. They're really good. They have lots of potential, but they just can't get a win in the playoffs! Ever since I created my character in January, I feel like my RPing skills as well as my skill at developing my character overall have gotten better between then and now. I know good progress is being made, but since I suffer from depression and whatnot, I never seem to be satisfied with myself. I spent 35 minutes mentally banging my head on a wall cutting a shoot on my character and myself. I know it sounds stupid, but after every event, I go back and look at my rp as well as the rp(s) of my opponent(s) and I keep saying "Is this really the best that I could come up with? Really!? I have to do better than this" over and over again. It's like every day I get better, but that better's never good enough. I understand that it's not completely my fault I mean you guys write excellent rps. I guess I really just don't know how to see the glass as half full.
Phoenix wins-"That's good, but it's not worth celebrating because I'm still not as good as I should be."
Phoenix loses-*stares at mirror* "Dammit! Why can't you ever be good enough! Nothing good that you do matters if it's not good enough when it needs to be! Every time you try to fight for something, it ends up being hopeless! If you were really worth anything, you'd've succeeded by now! But nooooo, you're nothing but a damn failure and no matter how hard you try, no matter how much effort you put into something, no matter how much you devote yourself to something, you'll NEVER succeed because you're you! All you're doing is digging a bigger hole for yourself and putting a bigger target on your back for everyone to shoot at! I hate you! You stubborn bastard! Just stay down for once and die instead of foolishly getting back up! We both know you're just wasting your time hyping up a false hope! How the hell are you supposed to make your way to the top when you keep failing at the same spot over and over again!? Until you can knock down that wall, nothing else matters! Nothing! None of your plans, thought processes, ideas, hopes, dreams, none of that matters until your best is better than ANYONE that stands in front of you!"
And from that, Kaiyah was created as kind of a reminder to both me and my character that it's not the end of the world, but it damn sure feels like it when you're booked with three opportunities to take a huge leap forward and you fail to do so each time. So yeah, there's my venting and whatnot. I'm not mad at Tiffany for winning. She deserved it more than I did, and that's why the match ended the way it did. It wouldn't've mattered what I did. Oh well. Looks like I get to delve into the mind of my character even more for the next match because I already know I have a hole to dig myself out of, but no excuses and shit. It's my own fault(mostly) for being in this position moving forward.

I believe most here have a similar situation as yours. Best advice I can give is to do the right post writing for what the character/opponent/storyline needs. Look back on it every few paragraphs and make an ending that seems natural for the character, not written or forced. Don't be obligated to write as some sort of competition, just have fun with your writing and the best will come out with it. Keep character related memorabilia nearby for writing inspiration ie-a pic of Tiff White who CJ, not you, lost to and how that affects the mind of CJ, again not you.
I intentionally leave loops, openings, flaws in my posts to give my opposition something more to work with, becouse in the end, the writing here is give and take, it's a two way street telling the same story. I really enjoyed my matches with Ronan becouse he did the same. Gave me character flaws that I could run with, and in turn I gave him fuel to use against me. In our upcoming angle, there are many character flaws you could use against me, and I in turn will be exploiting yours.
It's fun that way for me. What makes it fun for you? And does anything outside of that really matter?

I used to use myself to encourage writers in this sort of situation all the time. I first joined this fed as Spencer Adams. I won a few belts and did some really nice programs that I was really proud to be a part of, but trust me when I say that I fucking sucked when I first signed up here. I was possibly the worst person on the roster my first week or two and I still wasn't very good the first 1-3 months that would follow. It's a grind, man. This might sound corny, but it helps to take a little bit of strategy from the successful guys. Examples:
Scarecrow: A lot of people tell me now that I'm one of the better shooter/shoot promo guys here, but when I first joined I wasn't that great. This was a guy who really helped me become the shooter that I am. I learned through Scarecrow shoots that being the face doesn't mean you have to be super nice to everyone.
Howard Black: Insanely underrated. Very good with storytelling. I don't think I ever quite got to that level of storytelling, but studying the small tricks helps.
Joey Flash: Um...it's Flash haha He's so good that it's just fucking motivating.
DRG/People's Choice/#BeachKrew: I've been in a stable or team for much of my time here. Being in these groups and seeing how these people think really helps in general.
There are others for sure. The thing that will help you improve is using backpack strategy to grow and get to where you want. I took a lot of the tips and pointers that were both said to me as well as ones I just picked out on my own. Identify the areas you feel you should be better and tackle that.

As Joey told me, try to emulate some of Gravedigger's, Logan's, Howard Black's, Sarah Twilights, and former veterans/legends until you find some roleplays that inspire you.
One example of coding was from Howard Black's Dark Knight roleplay while my favorite shoot entirely in this company is Sarah Twilight's against Synn for the TV Title.

One piece of advice I want to give you that hasn't come up yet: make sure you meet the deadline for role plays. By the time code for your most recent one it looks like you missed it by an hour and a half.

I actually meant to(and tried to once) reply to all of this when I first came across it. I really appreciate the advice and reassurances!

Pffffffffffft you're more like the cubbies... best known for having a comedic appearance during a chapter many people consider to be the worst since its creation (Im talking about BTTF Part 2) lol

It all comes with time. The more comfortable you get on the boards, the more comfortable you'll be writing and creating.

I'm definitely the Buffalo Bills.
I was pretty impressive a bunch of years ago, but I never really accomplished anything. Then I disappeared into doing exhibition games in Canada for a while and pretty much everybody thought I was dead for a few years, but now I threaten to go .500 if I don't end up having to job to the Patriots too hard.

I'm good enough to earn title shots, but once I get to the title match, everything falls apart. Cincinnati- almost 9000 days since their last playoff win. Five straight playoff appearances. Lost all five. CJ Phoenix- over 2000 hours in the WCF. Three title shots. Two actual title matches. Zero wins. I feel your pain Cincinnati Bengals! Well...not quite all of it, but 40% of it thus far lol. And since Cincy's still in the league competing next season, Phoenix will still be competing to better himself and win some gold for once.

Even though my team's the Saints, I always root for the Bills to make the playoffs, and they give me hope until about midseason before they fall out of the playoff race. I believe in you Buffalo!! Circle them wagons!

We erected a statue to a guy who blocked a punt one time (admittedly, it might be because he's dying of ALS, but still). I ran into Drew Brees once trick or treating with his kids. He was dressed like Superman. He's just some guy; it's awesome. I've also attempted to wait tables during the Deanie's Post-game show, and there's nothing like being unable to deliver a stacked platter of fried shrimp because the line to get Bobby Hebert to sign things is too long. It's Bobby Hebert, people; get over it. -B.

Are we doing sports team metaphors? That makes me the Texans then, so.... Popular underdogs who make the playoffs once in a while but are never going to be in the Super Bowl?
Apt yet sobering!

I've always wanted to meet Brees and Larry Fitzgerald. I haven't crossed paths with Warrick Dunn in ages and he's my cousin! Smh lol

On second thought, I don't know if the Bills are an apt description... they've challenged for the world title four times and lost. I think I jobbed at WAR once while I was MIA... other than that, I don't really challenge for shit -B.

I get up there rarely these days, but I was the terror of the stand-up scene up there from like 09 to 2013. I heard Louie's moved across the street, but otherwise it's still there; thank god. That place is one of my favorite restaurants and it's not even in New Orleans. Heh. I used to live right near tiger stadium, right off Nicholson drive (around the way from Atcha bakery). Tailgating: they take it very seriously in BR. -B.
