The following transcript is excerpted from a conversation between WCF.com and former Television Champion Stuart Slane that took place Friday, April 2, 2016.
WCF.com: During your Television Title match at the March 20th edition of Slam you were hurt badly enough the fight was stopped. Can you tell us the extent of your injuries?
Slane: I was struck accidentally in the head by Tiffany White when she attempted her Pocket Queens moonsault. The blow caused me to lose consciousness. Later, when I revived, I was diagnosed as displaying concussion like symptoms. Since this was not my first injury of this type, the doctors made the decision to prohibit me from competition until I could pass the appropriate protocols.
WCF.com: How many times have you been concussed prior to this latest incident?
Slane: …I received a concussion in a match against Zombie McMorris early in my WCF career. That took place in the spring of 2012.
WCF.com: How are you currently feeling?
Slane: Excellent. I am happy to say I have passed all the required tests and am medically cleared to compete. The only thing left to do before returning to the active roster is getting Seth Lerch’s approval, which I hope will come in the next couple of days.
WCF.com: It’s been less than a month since you were hurt. Why the rush to return?
Slane: There’s no sense in being idle if I am able to perform. Also, Slam’s next broadcast will be its three hundred and fiftieth, and I would very much like to be involved in what amounts to a milestone event.
WCF.com: If you do get work the 350th Slam (Note: taking place Sunday April 10th at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), what spot on the card would you like to be part of?
Slane: While I realize beggars can’t be choosers, I have no desire in being inserted into something that already has been booked.
WCF.com: Not even for the TV Title? Technically you were never defeated for the belt since the match was declared a no contest.
Slane: That was a bad call by both the referee and Seth. As far as I’m concerned, Tiffany White beat me for the Television Championship.
WCF.com: And you have no interest in a rematch?
Slane: Only a fool would turn down a chance for any title in WCF. In this case, however, I don’t deserve one, especially in comparison to the current challenger, CJ Phoenix. He’s been trying for months to win the Television Title, but always was denied a clean, clear shot at it until, hopefully, now. I wish both him and Miss White the best of luck next Sunday.
WCF.com: So, more than a match, what you’re really looking for is an opponent.
Slane: Yes. And, honestly, that shouldn’t be so hard. This coming Slam is another landmark in WCF’s great history. I can’t be the only wrestler on the outside looking in, hoping for the opportunity to be part of the celebration. One reads the current card and can’t help but notice a lot of major names you’d expect to be there are not.
WCF.com: Such as?
Slane: I won’t be so tactless as to call out individuals. I am not trying to goad anyone, after all. What I do want to say to them, to the entire WCF Galaxy, is that I am back, and I am ready for a fight. Anyone else who feels the same way is welcome to contact me.
