Prologue-everything is black as the sound of a Kaiyah's voice is heard. It sounds like she is speaking through some kind of communicator that adds a slight cybernetic tone to her vocals.
Kaiyah-The time is approaching. The location has be set. The target has been identified. Andrew Marx, you have been marked for elimination.
At last, after weeks of waiting, Kaiyah has finally been released from the hospital. Before they left, Phoenix spotted a man and his two sisters. They were exhausted from having to sleep night after night in the uncomfortable hospital. Phoenix approached the man, who told him his story and why he and his sisters are so exhausted(as explained in the News 17 report from "In Character News"), and booked quite a few nights worth of rooms for them. After doing so, Phoenix and Kaiyah exited the hospital.
Kaiyah: Finally! I can feel the breeze and breathe in the fresh air that comes with not being in that hellhole. You don't know how much I've been wanting this!
Phoenix: Really!?
Phoenix attempts to sound like Kaiyah.
Phoenix: Chase! I hate this place! Break me out of here! I wanna go home! I'm sick of hearing people coughing outside! I want real food! Can I go home now!?
Kaiyah: Whatever. Can you open the trunk please?
Phoenix helps Kaiyah pack her clothes in the Hellcat before they get in and drive off. Kaiyah falls asleep about 20 minutes into the trip. Meanwhile, Phoenix is replaying his match from Slam and reassessing his strategy for his match against Andrew Marx at Explosion. Six hours go by, and Kaiyah's eyes open. Phoenix stops at a gas station to fill up and so that they can stretch for a moment. Afterwards, they get back on the interstate and continue their journey.
Phoenix: Hey Kaiyah.
Kaiyah: Yeah?
Phoenix: Wanna be a part of my promo?
Kaiyah: Sure!
Phoenix: Sweet! Pick up my phone and turn on the recorder.
Kaiyah: Okay!
She grabs his phone and points it at him. Then, she turns on the recorder.
Phoenix: Hellooooo WCF Galaxy! The Phoenix is back with another message for my good ole buddy ole pal ole friend of mine, Andy Marx. Also, I have a special guest with me. Sitting in the passenger seat of my car is none other than my girlfriend, Kaiyah. Say hi to the fans babe.
Kaiyah points the phone at herself and smiles.
Kaiyah: Hellooo!!
She points the phone back at Phoenix.
Phoenix: So Kaiyah, I seem to have a bit of a problem.
Kaiyah: What's wrong?
Phoenix: I just can't figure out which move I want to use to beat Andy with at Explosion. I have some great options, but they're just so hard to choose from, you know?
Kaiyah: What are the options?
Phoenix: Well, I've narrowed it down to four. I could Talon Kick him so hard that his head will go all the way to Soldier Field and go right through the uprights. My second option is to charge right at him and cut him in half with a Spear like a knife slicing an orange. Option three is to spend some time in the stratosphere before coming down and burying him with a Phoenix Splash. Finally, I could forego all of that and fold him up like a pretzel in my Bow and Arrow finisher, forcing him to tap out. What do you think I should go with?
Kaiyah: Why not all of them?
Phoenix: Great idea! Of course, that's only IF he can survive any of them.
Kaiyah: True.
Phoenix: Did you hear all of that, Andy? That's called being versatile. That's using your brain to come up with alternate solutions to the same problem. It's something that you just haven't managed to figure out. I'm going to beat you because I have so many ways to do so! I could use my quickness to elude your moves until you're tired. Once you're out of energy, I'll go on the offensive. Maybe I'll do a bunch of high-flying moves to confuse you to the point that you don't even know where you are anymore. Hell, if need be, I'd even stand right in front of you and trade shots until you become a bloody mess and collapse. Of course, dirty moves and cheap tactics aren't just limited to during the match when it comes to you. For all I know, you might try to sneak attack me the moment I step onto that stage. You might be hiding under the ring with a weapon, waiting until I get close enough for you to strike. Just so you know in advance, that won't save you either. If anything, that would just further prove my point that you're scared of me. What's the matter? You can't handle a one on one match with me because you don't have a scapegoat to put the blame on after you lose? You gonna "accidentally" knock over the ref so you can get a cheap shot or two in? Go right ahead. Open up your bag of tricks. Put some brass knuckles in your boots. You're gonna need them because unlike you, I focus on more than just one skill that an opponent of mine possesses. I know that you're a brawler. You also like to wear down your opponents before bringing out the heavy artillery moves. Then, there's the deceitful side of you. The part of you that picks and chooses your cheap shots whenever the opportunity arises. I know what you bring to the table. I know your strengths AND your weaknesses. What do you know about me? What do you know about what I do in the ring? Before we even faced each other on Slam in that tag match, all you saw was a high-flying daredevil. Have you learned anything since then? Apparently not. Chances are, you'll walk into Explosion still solely focusing on trying to keep me grounded. First off, good luck with that. Second, even if you did manage to do so, I can beat you by land and by air. I'd say the choice is yours, but it's really mine.
Phoenix pauses for a moment while he changes lanes to pass up an 18 wheeler.
Phoenix: It's a shame that our paths have to cross this way, Andrew. We're both looking for the same thing. Treasure. You know what that treasure is this time, Mr. Marx? It's a victory at Explosion. We both know that this treasure is in Chicago. Each of us stands in the other's way of reaching said treasure. There's more than just bragging rights that come with a win this Sunday. The man who walks out victorious gets to take another step up that ladder. He gets one step closer to being among the elites. Explosion is the equivalent of a prime time game. Sure it's nice to rack up victories on Slam and squash a few jobbers on Wednesday Night, but Pay-Per-Views are a whole lot bigger. These are the matches that put your name in the spotlight. Matches like this are what all of the Slams and Wednesday Nights lead up to. Andy, your last name is quite fitting for this situation. "X" marks the spot, and that "X" stands for more than just where the treasure is. It also stands for the place where any betting man foolish enough to pick you to win this match will have to write an "X" across that match. It's the place where you will go from being in the cross hairs to simply being crossed off of my list of obstacles. I hate to break it to you man, but you're not ready for that next step. Not right now. You're not ready to beat a guy like Teo Del Sol. That means you're not ready to defeat CJ Phoenix. Hopefully, you will learn from your defeat this time and build upon yourself after Sunday. Because once I get to Chicago, I'm leaving with that treasure!
Phoenix points at Kaiyah, who points the phone at herself.
Phoenix: You see her? She's my third gear. When I step in the ring, I don't just fight for myself, I fight for her as well. You on the other hand. You fight to satiate your selfishness. I hope you brought your appetite, because I'll be serving up a can of whup-ass with a side of assault. Just as it is a pleasure and a blessing for me to have this lady on my side, it will be a pleasure causing you pain. Like I said before, Andrew, it's a shame that our paths have to cross this way. It just so happens that Mr. Marx is in the wrong place at the wrong time. The cold and cruel hands of fate have dealt you a bad hand, sir. Simply put, you're not a man who's about to make his mark. You're a man who's been marked for elimination. See you at Explosion.
Kaiyah shuts off the recorder as they eventually finish their drive to Denver. They spend the night there and then finish their journey to Chicago the next day.
Epilogue
Kaiyah-On the 27th day of March, the fate of Andrew Marx will be sealed. He will be reduced to ashes...
Her voice is replaced by a deeper, almost demonic voice.
Voice-And from those ashes, the Phoenix will continue to rise.
Kaiyah-The time is approaching. The location has be set. The target has been identified. Andrew Marx, you have been marked for elimination.
