The scene opens up, as we see a large man dressed in an ill-fitting grey suit and beige turtleneck, before he turns to the camera and begins to speak...
SSH: There comes a time in some careers where some men literally just "come out of nowhere" before they truly make their mark on both the WCF and professional wrestling, in general, and this man is truly exemplifies this in more ways than one.
Making his mark on the WCF has been a rather hard turn, especially in an era that houses names such as Dune, Natural "ICE" Beckman, Jay Omega, and even his own former stablemates Thomas Uriel Bates and "Gonzo" Deuce Murdock. However, despite such intimidating opponents, this man has faced all comers, and win or lose, manages to get back to his feet and continue the attack, proving that he truly does not know of the word "quit".
And as a result of that mindset, during his almost one year in the WCF, he has managed to make history on numerous occasions, to include being one of three inaugural Trios Title Champions after defeating a team consisting of three WCF Legends in Corey Black, Jonny Fly, and Steve Orbit. And if that was not enough, he made history yet again, when he beat Los Tiburones to the record-breaking sixth elimination at the most recent War match, who later on tied the record himself. And in the process, has now earned himself a United States Title shot, for which he will be competing shortly for this upcoming SLAM.
Of course, if you don't know who I'm talking about, I highly suggest you remove yourself from under the rock, as we welcome to the stage Gemini Battle! Gemini...
Falling Higher by Helloween begins to play, as Gemini comes out to the stage dressed in a dapper pinstripe suit as he says...
GB: Thank you for the shockingly accurate and humbling introduction...I hope this doesn't net you your lowest ratings to date.
SSH: The Ratings? And here I thought this was mostly measured by the amount of hits on the Internet and the Network! Eh, whatever...
So Mr. Battle, to start this off, what is the name that your parents gave you when and where you were born?
GB: Name’s Tony…well they named me Anthony but in Elementary School on Long Island there were like 3 other kids named Anthony so my mom told me while waiting on line to get cold cuts that it was OK to use the name Tony.
SSH: Early on in the WCF, you ran as Livewire Grayson Pierce, before taking on the personal of Gemini Battle. When this came to be, did you anticipate bringing both personalities into one character?
GB: I wanted to use Gemini because in the other Fed I was working I never got to do with him the story I wanted. But I also never got to finish the story with Livewire. I knew I was going to bring Livewire back... That's why I had Gemini attack him at first and then planned on bringing Livewire back...running an angle AGAINST myself to bring Livewire back to the Fed and eliminate Gemini because I feel like Gemini's story has to end in his own destruction.
I didn't anticipate the positive reactions he would get and I certainly didn't plan on making him face. In a Fed with such polarizing and outrageous at times characters I needed to do something to make him stand out.
So my original plan with working with Henson was just to solidify Gemini as a face. Have Henson try to bring the hate out and Gemini overcomes and becomes a face. Then I got a nice PM from Marc Mayhem who said that he really likes the Livewire Character and in the chat Odin said something similar.
I wanted to bring Livewire back from the beginning but things were going so well with Gemini with the DRG and everything that I couldn't drop him. This was the best of both worlds and now I get to keep the dark side of writing mixed in with the reality driven stories I like to write as well.
SSH: When did you become a fan of professional wrestling?
GB: Geez, like zero years old, probably. Really, my first memory of watching wrestling is WrestleMania 6 when Hulk Hogan faced the Ultimate Warrior. 2 of my older brothers were watching as well. One was a Hogan Fan and the other a Warrior fan. When Warrior won my two brothers started wrestling each other destroying the house. I was like 5 or 6, they were 15 and 20 respectively. So they’re throwing down, and I’m jumping around like fucking a midget wrestler jumping on their backs and getting tossed off… I fell in love with it immediately.
SSH: When and how old were you when you began e-fedding? How successful were you?
GB: When I was like 16 me and my friend Wolf were surfing the newly found internet and found what I think was the first incarnation of e-fedding. We had to write a promo and email it to someone and then someone wrote a match with our wrestlers… we may have been even younger than 16. We created a wrestler named Mysterio, and wrote a mysterious promo and lost and never did it again.
Then when I was like 22 I tried to find it again and found that it had changed so drastically. I joined a fed and created a character, lost a whole lot. Joined another fed and yadda yadda yadda here I am now!
SSH: What is your real life occupation, and how does it affect your writing?
GB: My job title is Senior Data Administrator at a food manufacturing plant. Basically it means that I sit on my desk and electronically track all of the food as it goes through the building to ensure that we can trace it from arrival to departure, every grain of salt can be monitored this way in theory.
I do most of my writing while waiting for reports to generate or when I finish my job early. If I have a crazy week you’ll know because I’ll have a shitty RP. Most of my busiest weeks are PPV weeks of course.
SSH: Have you ever considered pursuing professional wrestling or writing? Have you ever made an attempt?
GB: I met someone recently at my job who worked in a little independent promotion. I wanted to bring Gemini Battle there as a manager, I’m too scared to actually wrestle but would love to be a personality. But that never worked out. The kid was awful anyway.
SSH: Where did Gemini Battle come from, creatively? What were his initial motivations?
GB: Well, knowing your next question I’m gonna double dip with this answer, so as the next question too and I’ll answer them both.
SSH: Where has he been? Is the WCF the only place that Gemini Battle has been? How successful was he elsewhere?
GB: Gemini Battle was an incarnation of a character named Twister that I created. I created Twister around the time of the Dark Knight and the Heath Ledger Joker came about. I used a similar background story as Robin form Batman Forever where his family was a circus act and they got murdered and Twister wanted to avenge their death and in doing so became a sociopathic clown. Every RP contained rape and/or murder. Something awful. This was the first character I ever won a title with.
Then when I began Gemini the idea was to do something completely opposite of who I am. I’m a poor white guy from the suburbs. Gemini was meant to have been a poor white guy from the suburbs who rebelled against his racist and bigoted family by being gay with a black guy, the ultimate betrayal to his KKK Grand wizard Grandfather and Father.
He was no clown then, he was just a regular guy. He amassed billions of dollars and had the world at his fingertips. I didn’t want money to tie down my stories so he was able to do anything he wanted. In doing this I felt that he lost relatability so I took a week hiatus and returned with the Gemini Battle as the Joker.
The story was that he was captured and tortured to look like this and all of his money was stolen from him. I wanted to emulate the character twister because I was so successful with him in the past and I wanted to bring that dark side of my writing back to the forefront. Then he set on a path of pain and destruction to find out who did it and why, that story rolled over to here because I was never able to finish it. Because, in my theory, I was very successful at that AWA fed I mentioned earlier.
I made a vow when beginning, IC of course, that by the end of the year that I would be the first ever simultaneous triple crown winner, I would hold all titles at the same time. Which was impossible because if you were the mid card champ and you won the world title you had to immediately drop the mid-card championship. So it was impossible to hold the lower card, mid card and upper card championship belts at the same time simply by the rules.
Then the tag team belts came into effect, they were being contested in a singles match because the partners would be involved in a world title tournament. My partner won that match and I, who was the mid card champion won the World Title that night as well.
I heard I was going to win so I wrote an angle at the end of the show where I held the World Title, and the midcard Title and my partner came in and gave me my half of the tag titles and I became the first and only ever simultaneous triple crown winner. Ultimate heel move.
I got forced out, in my opinion, of the fed shortly after that when the three people I beat in the World Title Tournament became fed heads and got on the voting staff and I lost literally 8 matches in a row after that. RPing exactly the same way as I was when I beat them, suddenly it wasn’t good enough and I kept losing to people who were doing terrible.
So I left and came here and started Livewire Grayson Pierce. The two characters were eventually going to cross paths. I made them from the same place, and the same age. I wanted to bring Gemini to this fed, and things just worked out where this all happened, and now I’m working on this story.
Geez, that was a long answer.
SSH: Don't worry about the length, but rather the quality, and this is QUALITY STUFF. Do you have any other developed characters you've used here or elsewhere?
GB: I created Adam Knight, the Dark Knight (yea, I had a Batman obsession) and Won a world title with him, and used him as a fed head character for a year as well when I ran my own e fed. He was like Bret Hart but from Australia.
SSH: Who in the WCF or elsewhere has been the most influential in helping you develop your writing skills?
GB: Overall I would say a character named Bill Barnhart has helped me out a lot from my last fed. Here Omega has always been there to help me out, Gonzo and Bates as well really helped me hone my character during our Trio’s run as well.
SSH: Who has been your toughest opponent to date?
GB: Jay Omega, Joey Flash and Dune. I’ve never been able to beat Omega, he’s been the bane of Gemini’s existence, even in tag matches. At least I’ve beaten Flash in a tag match. Dune is just a fucking beast.
SSH: Who has been your favorite person to work with, either as an ally or antagonist?
GB: As an ally Gonzo and Bates have been a blast, I’m sad to see that end. As an enemy KL Henson was awesome, sorry to see him go as well. In the other fed I was in Bill Barnhart and I ran an angle where he was going to be the VP of the fed OOC and IC so we ran a three month angle where Gemini pronounced himself the VP and then they had to fight for it. It was awesome.
SSH: Who could you care not to see again in the WCF?
GB: Honestly… Dale. I thought he was such a good guy and he totally turned on everything that I believed to be true. It was a shame because I really got along with him until I realized how extremist he was in his beliefs. The worst part was that I believed in the same things that he does, just when people bring it to such an extreme it makes the whole side look bad. We don’t need controversy like that… At least Bates was able to at least pretend that he gave a shit about what the other side said, even though we all knew that he had no intention of changing his views either.
And Jeff Purse… fuck that guy. JK
SSH: With the United States Title in sight after breaking a long-standing War Record, what should we expect from the match and Gemini Battle after such an explosive few weeks?
GB: First of all, holy shit. I don't believe that happened. It was truly an honor to have that privilege. Seth did not have to get me over like that and I truly appreciate it.
Hopefully I can win this US title and earn my first singles belt in the past year. In case you haven't been paying attention... My singles record is like 1-20 or something like that... Heck my overall record is losing... But I still get recognized as a respected writer and dare I say "top guy."
As for the future.... Well, Jay Omega and I have some unfinished business from my Livewire days to take care of so I hope that works out. Bringing Livewire back really helps that angle out a lot. It should be a good one.
SSH: What is your favorite word?
GB: Siiiiiccccck! (said in a grossly high pitched voice)
SSH: What is your least favorite word?
SSH: What is your favorite curse word?
SSH: What turns you on?
GB: I’m a leg guy, a girl with nice legs will do it for me.
SSH: What turns you off?
GB: Terrible personality.
SSH: What is your favorite noise?
SSH: What is your least favorite noise?
GB: “DAAAADDDDDYYYYYY” at 2 in the morning.
SSH: What profession would Gemini Battle do if he was not a professional wrestling manager?
GB: Hedge Fund Manager
SSH: What profession would Gemini Battle like the least?
SSH: Upon death, where do you think Gemini Battle will go? And upon arrival, what will his welcoming committee say to him upon arrival?
GB: Straight to hell, and he would be accepted right next to Judas in the deepest darkest ring of Hell at the right hand of the Devil Himself.
SSH: Do you have anything to say to Seth Lerch, your boss for God knows how long, at this point?
GB: I’m going to make you vote for me to win a singles match eventually… it WILL happen. But really, thanks for running such an awesome fed, and don’t be afraid to let other help out, Price and CD and Digger are such valuable assets for things other than banning. Keep up the cluster fucks. They’re important.
