I'll admit, the show was a bit of a heartbreaker for me considering all the work I put into that roleplay in the biggest match I've had in WCF to date.
But, finding and reading this thread has helped me feel a lot better about it. Normally, I go into a confidence tailspin, but not this time, and this thread had a lot to do with that.
As a matter of fact, I've already got some ideas for my next one, and the card isn't even posted yet. I'm not sure if I would have been this idea-driven had I won, so perhaps this loss was a blessing in disguise.
I'm just ready to chomp at the bit again.

Next time maybe you'll get a match writer who doesn't suck.

That's all it is really.

I agree with how important a thread like this is personally, i know i haven't been the best at keeping my emotions in check in the past especially when i lost to Fly before considering i felt i put in some of my best work ever into that match but at the end of it all it lit a fire inside me wanting to come back stronger which i know i can be, losing can be the greatest motivator if you don't let it burn you up too much

Thats the problem and its not anything to be mad at Fly for the guys just extraordinarily good, but he also brings out your best stuff and still beats you and thats where the heart break comes in. When I was here originally I was on a role but I have pretty much been in a slump all over the place since xmas, storms need to be weathered I guess

Mine hasn't been as bad as ur Caliban but I've been feeling about the same. Going from a three month win streak to a three week losing streak, I was shattered when I read the results. I'll admit got alil over dramatic, but guess things happen for a reason. Just gotta push on and hope for the best.

i kind of felt the same way comin in because I swore I was so damned good no one could beat me. Little did I realize the competition level here would prove me wrong. Losing is never easy no matter who you are or what you do. The key to losing is how you handle it. Some people it makes stronger while others never seem to recover. I can't say it still doesn't bother me but at least I know here I am getting a fair shake and not a knife in the back.

Losing used to bother me quite a lot, when ever it did I just disappear into a video game for a couple of days and chilled out. Now it still bothers me but I've started to enjoy writing my role-plays more, I get more irritated at myself as I tend to procrastinate for most of the week and then have to rush at the weekend. But yeah losing still does niggle at me but the way I like to see it is that I'm kinda like Dolph Ziggler of WCF, I put on good matches just don't win the big matches that often.

I think the best thing to do is make sure you're working with others and doing storylines. That's when I have the most fun writing and that's when I don't mind losing (as much).

it's hard here. I'll admit it, I enjoy winning as much as the next guy but as of yet I can't say I deserve to beat the top guys. but hey, you're never too old to learn and get better (fuck I'm already pretty old)

Just to say, I consider you as one of the most underrated guys here. Caliban, Denise D'evil and Jayden Thunder are others in this bracket. The overall quality here is very high. Some of the RPs/RPers that everyone else goes crazy for don't really connect with me and vice versa. Sometimes it's simply a matter of taste and connection to the character. I'm personally not a huge fan of zany characters; I generally like RPs that touch on some sort of emotion in a clear and not too convoluted manner. Also, due to my faith, I'm not too keen on lots of crudity and swear words. Maybe I'm more of a PG era roleplayer than an Attitude era one It seems that most of us would prefer to have others enjoy the work we are producing than to constantly win but not really appeal to others.

That's an excellent point. The storylines are really what makes efedding worth the time and commitment, at least from my perspective. That's why I'm trying to get my characters involved in some storylines right now. I'm trying, man. I'm trying!

I increase my PayPal "donation" to the Seth Lerch Memorial Slush Fund. That usually takes care of the problem.
But seriously what Steve said above is true for me as well: its the building up of angles and feuds that's become the fun part for me.

If you have a storyline planned for a month or two months or whatever, it makes each week much less important. So if you lose its not as devastating.
Plus, the storyline leading up to One with Orbit/Fly was the most fun I ever had writing here. I lost the match but the entire experience was worth all of the hard work I put in. When you do a good storyline you get a feeling of accomplishment, and I think that's important. It makes up for the winning/losing. It gives you motivation.

What if you're not in a storyline? Start PMing people. There's a lot of room for new stuff right now. Tag Team division is wide open. And those storylines practically write themselves.

I tend to only use crudity or swear words when it makes sense for the character, it just so happens that he's a outlaw biker so sometimes it's more in character or just the way I see him responding to something. I mean he I don't go out and every other word is a swear word at least I try not to.

THE VINE #1 STEVE ORBIT FAN *WINK* Haha, I'm actually a big fan. The way you use crudity works for me somehow Can't really explain it... I guess I like it when the crudity is the pepper not the steak, if that makes any sense.
