I just wanted to add something to this thread, because I just thought of a great tip for newcomers.
Everyone here knows that newcomers come in waves here. We'll get a flood of new people coming in every once in a while. Unfortunately, I hate to mention this, but it's reality, usually just a select few people from those waves stick around and often times, the reason is that they're floating and not doing anything, so they simply disappear or choose to move on.
Anyway, here's a tip for you newcomers, those that came here in the last wave, and those that will come here in the future and see this thread and post. The first thing you want to do when you come here is COLLABORATE!
Yes, collaborate. Remember, you came here with a wave of newcomers, and those other newcomers also have nothing to do. See who is also a recent newcomer in the fed, look through some applications and you might notice a person or two that gels with your character somehow. Does the character of a fellow newcomer match a significant chunk of what your character is about? AWESOME! Shoot them a message and try to form a tag team. Tag team divisions, particularly good ones, are a rare find in e-fedding these days. A couple of teams here either just split, or went on the inactive list, so as of this post, the tag team division needs some new blood. At the very least, you'll have something to do almost off the bat.
But what if you find some fellow newcomers that are the antithesis of what your character is about? Don't worry! Shoot them a message and try to get a feud going! It'll give both people something to do in the storylines (and that's a BIG key in WCF) and it'll give both people a chance to hit the ground running.
Whether you're teaming or feuding with a fellow newcomer, you're still COLLABORATING! And collaboration and teamwork is one of the ways you can get yourself in the storylines and get people to notice your character. You want to be involved as early and as often as you can!
When I came here, I collaborated with someone who's become a great friend of mine (Stacy Jones, former member) almost immediately when I got here. (Note: she was established already, but still, it's a collaboration). We were a tag team for a couple of months until she, unfortunately, had to leave. But, the tag team helped me get off the ground and into the storylines and three months later, after a lot of hard work, I've managed to do quite well for myself.
So, having experienced that, I figured I would share this piece of advice. Be involved as you can! Ask questions! Read roleplays! Work with someone as soon as you can, feud or team. It's not easy to get off the ground at first, but working with someone coming into the fed can help give you a head start on the rest of your newcomer wave.

It's not easy to get off the ground at first, but working with someone coming into the fed can help give you a head start on the rest of your newcomer wave. While I think this is an excellent idea, sometimes that won't be the case as is now. The majority of the "new wave" folks are tag teams and the other singles individuals, may not blend well together. In that event, it's necessary to seek out people on the existing roster; the problem is that when existing members don't want to get on board with a newb, that newb is left with nothing to do. I'm in that boat; I've reached out to various folks from the ISO thread and haven't been able to find someone to work with that'll blend well with my character. I understand it's tough as a seasoned vet to give time to a newb that may flake out, believe me, I understand that completely that people want to see you stick around before working with you but in that same line, people may take offense to that and think 'well these people say they want to collobarate and work together, but they really don't'. It's a double edged sword. You've got new people who want to get involved, vets that want them to get involved, but they don't really want to help them there if there's not an alternative at the time. Just food for thought. Not every "wave" is going to be able to collaborate together because certain characters won't work well off one another.

I say you just gotta have balls to roll with something. Don't be afraid to take a chair shot in order to move ahead and upwards. The more you write the more you have control over your character. Just like in real wrestling you take a shot and give a shot. Everyone I've worked with has been very conscious of making sure that everyone involved gets a fair shot to look good, and at the end whosever has the best RP wins. And it seems that if Seth likes your stories he puts you in good positions to succeed too. I don't mean to speak for him but the more you put yourself out there the more you get in return. It's low risk and high reward.
I for example made a slight comment in the "Internet Boards" and it steamrolled into this whole story between Hyena and Myself, and I think lycanthropy was involved. At the end of the day we got put in a match for a title shot. Then we move forward from there. I gotta say, this fed is good like that.
In conclusion, just do it.

Hey I'm not new anymore.. well not super new anymore and I actually have a piece of advice to share.
Roleplaying here, in a fed with a single roleplay limit, is not easier than roleplaying in a fed with no roleplay limit. If you write a roleplay like you would have in a no roleplay limit fed, you're going to lose because most likely your opponent spent a minimum 4 hours writing his roleplay. Spend all the time you would have spent writing multiple roleplays in another fed writing your one here.

I've been registered for this board for a month now. I've fedded for a long time and understand how these waves go. I've been reading and waiting to drop my character(s) in, but that time hasn't materialized. The gimmick I've been cultivating over the last week deals more with an active "manager" (whom I would RP with) as opposed to an active wrestler. I post this as my gimmick using a character with nearly 15 years of experience as a wrestler and fedhead is simple: Salinger (me) has come to re- invigorate WCF or some jazz like that. Sal's position would be like an agent (as a go between, interloper, instigator, etc. On someone's behalf) and a promoter (joint RPs where applicable, angle/feud/gimmick ideas for clientele, assistance with promo "production", etc.). The point of the gimmick is not to form a stable or group, just to help people fit in as I have no hesitance in sticking my neck out in new or unfamiliar places. I know all this sounds vague, I freely admit it does, but (a bit of self high five) I'm pretty clever about these things and I truly think I could help any wayward, directionless, or stagnant wrestler. (They may not voice it, but there are a couple people hear who know what I can offer in this situation). If you're interested, PM me and we can chat and see what we can do. I've had a RP ready to release for 3 weeks, so if this idea will help anyone or suit someone's fancy, I can get the ball rolling in days if you're ready and details can be hatched out and cleared with everyone (WCF staff, wrestler, wrestler's opponent, angle, and/or feud, and me). Note: this is not restricted to one wrestler or handler; I can handle multiple and the two (or more) needn't cross paths if such angles are unwanted. Basically, I don 'to want to be a tie to bind people together (unless suitable for all participants), but rather an instigator of inventiveness.

I approve of The EU's comments. I've worked with him in the past, so I can tell you that he knows what's what. People could do a lot worse than hire Isaac Salinger to help them get ahead.

Ok, so we've got a huge roster now. 40 plus. 44 to be exact although 4 of them are my characters and we really only use one of them, but as Seth pointed out the other day, there's not that many people with multiple characters. So we've likely got at least 3 dozen people in the fed now. This is some advice from someone whose been here for a few years. If any other veterans or Seth himself wants to correct any of the information I'm about to give out, or add to it, then do so. We've had decent sized rosters before. People come and go here in WCF. I've seen a lot of people who were in WCF for several weeks or months who just suddenly vanished and honestly they were going nowhere in WCF and had no real direction. In WCF, you are responsible for your standing in the company. Just like in pro wrestling, the wrestlers who are more involved in their character and are in the ear of the boss, get farther in WCF. I don't necessarily mean you get farther as in you get a slew of World title shots. What I mean is this: The people who just show up each week and cut promos on the roleplay board each week against their opponents but other than that do nothing, go nowhere. Yeah if you win most of your matches, Seth will give you a title shot at certain titles and maybe you'll win the belt. But for the most part, if you're not involved in your character and you're not talking to Seth, you're just going to float from match to match, week to week, occasionally getting title shots. You need to be involved. You need to let Seth know what title you want to go after. New guys are not typically going to get world title shots. 9 times out of 10 it does not happen and I know there are plenty of people who come into WCF thinking they will. Those people are either ignorant or think because they did well elsewhere, they can dominate here. I'm talking about the people who want to bypass all the other titles and just go straight for the world title. Who does that in real wrestling? Usually it was just legends from other companies, but in e-wrestling, no one knows who you are when you come into WCF (unless you were in feds with other people, for the most part Seth doesn't know you). I know some people hate doing angles/storylines but the one big thing that will get you great matches, advance you in WCF and get you those title shots you want is to do this one thing: generate interest in your character. Not only for WCF as a whole but for Seth as well. Angles/storylines, feuds, promos/skits on the weekly shows and PPVs. Because honestly no one gives a damn if you win nearly every match you're in. If you come into WCF undefeated for a while, no one is going to care. Many people over the years (10+ years WCF has been open) have done that, so no one cares, it's been done. I'm sure others can come up with more advice as well or add on to what I've said. That's the two things you need to work on in WCF to do great here: be involved with your character and generate interest in him/her. Just bumping the first post. in 5 pages, its really the most insightful post. Here are my tips for Dub-Cee-Virgins - Enjoy your character - Post fun RP's - create storylines - be ready to go through the card and not jump to the top. - Getting your character established in WCF is more important than your W/L Record in WCF - If you have a question, ask Admin ( white names ) OR seth ( The owner) OR Corey Black ( also Admin) whose currently in blue. - Consult Seth regarding story ideas and matches - Want feedback? ask me directly ( Odin Balfore ) I'll be more than happy to help. - Have an issue? Go to Admin or Seth. - Don't like how you're written in matches? OR want to write your own match? feel free to do so, as long as your opponent looks strong too. - Have an ego? Thats'ah padd'lin.

However, I have been in various efeds since the mid to late 90's and this rings true in just about all of the good ones. There has to be storylines or else... what are you? Someone who just shows up and at the end of the day goes home. Thats boring and will keep no one's attention. One of the most important things that i have learned in my many years is this "Be noticed." If you can start a fued and run it to the full extent that it can possibly go, or have an epic storyline then people will pay attention. You can either do amazing things with your characters, or you can be crap on an unsalted cracker... Sorry to but in, I just wanted to give my two cents. ~@~
