"Even when I lose, in the end I win."
Image comes into focus after the statement, and viewers find themselves watching Nathan von Liebert as he is facing a brick wall, tossing a ball against it. The Devil's Right Hand is wearing a Giants jersey, announcing to everyone who he was pulling for, along with jean shorts and converse shoes. He doesn't turn to the camera, instead speaking to it while facing away.
"Any of those jobbers Corey Black usually beats wouldn't be where I was just one week later after losing to him. All I had to do was speak the truth on twitter to some of our more. . . outspoken individuals in this company. And you where it got me? I'm in the main event fighting against two champions. Do I feel like I deserve it. Yes.
I'm not Jonny Fly, who is just begging for more competition. I'm not Donald Deruty, who is trying to relight the fire in a championship that burnt out so long ago. I'm Nathan von Liebert, the man who is just out here to be the best. And it seems that I've already proven I'm one of the best. The average wrestler wouldn't be given a title shot a week after losing in a title match. No matter what people say about me, I'm am still an excellent wrestler. And you know, not many people say that I'm bad. Corey probably doesn't like me, but he knows I can wrestle. Jonny Fly hasn't said anything yet, but I'm sure he would agree with me when I say I have wrestling ability. Many people dislike me with a passion, but they know what I can do. But D-Day just cannot understand it."
Nathan throws the ball a little harder this time, and it rebounds off-screen. But Nathan ignores it, back still turned from the camera.
"Donald, you say I shouldn't be where I'm at so quickly, but you don't understand something. I fought for the World Championship because I won my matches. Who gives a shit if you felt I shouldn't have won the One Invitational. If you had the ability to beat me, I wouldn't have won. Don't say I shouldn't have won my matches. Instead blame my opponents for not having the ability to beat me in the ring.
I have never wrestled solely on luck and the bosses' graces. Look back in ACW when I had no one on my side, and I still won my matches. It may appear Seth has chosen me as his champion, but think about it. Seth knows talent when he sees it. Do you think you would've got so many title shots if the boss didn't notice you? Seth knows talent when he sees it, and he gives the shots to those who has talent. So if I got a shot at the World Championship, it is for my talent in the ring, not because Seth is my friend.
When I look at Jay Price, I do see someone who failed after getting in the bosses' good graces. I cannot not help what has already happen. But do understand Seth is pulling the strings for me. I don't ask for these championship matches; I earn them. Whether that be through my actions or my words, it does not matter. I earn them. Never has anything been given to me. And gold will not be given to me when I step into the ring this week. Whether I pin you or Jonny, I will walk out with gold."
Nathan turns to the camera for the first time, his brown eyes watching coldly.
"But you were right, Donald, when you said you'll be facing the top two rookies in WCF. But do you think that facing you will be me higher up in my WCF career? What did facing Corey Black do for my career? Was being the first ever One Invitational Winner a step-up or a step-down in my career? Has anybody forgotten that I've already beaten you in my career, and you haven't beaten me? Donald, this match means nothing in my career because I've already done more in it that amount for more. Facing an opponent that I've already beaten isn't what you call a headliner in my career.
But do you honestly think you'd be in the same place on the card this week if I hadn't put you in your place? Why would we put you in the Main Event otherwise? The reason you're competiting this week is because I got mouthy and burnt your ass. You say you're trying so hard to make the United States championship worth something again, but it ain't working. You didn't have to win the belt, and you haven't put the title out there to be won. I mean they brought back the People's Title, and already it has more prestige than your belt. Believe it or not, but I'm doing more to help out your cause than you are. Now you have your first, and I emphasize first, fight where the title is on the line.
But you tried to take a stab at me when you named off hall of famers that you've beaten. If you wish to get technical, I have a win over Corey Black, but I will agree with you that I haven't beaten him one on one. You may have 'gotten' me there but you seem to forget that I've beaten a man you've already said was a future hall of famer. I've beaten you, D-Day."
Nathan smirks, an almost smile that bares his teeth. A feral grin of sorts.
"I did pick you as Corey's opponent a couple weeks ago, but don't let that get to you. You were not my first choice. Seth told me to have a first and second choice in case Corey and I picked the same person. My choice was Jonny Fly, and you were my back-up. I didn't expect you to even step into the match, but you did. You won, so that doesn't matter. I cannot say that you can't win. But I just can't rely on you as I can Fly. I mean he hasn't lost to a gothic little tweeb like you have.
You whine about me bringing up my win over you, but what can you honestly do. If you hadn't brought that title out, I wouldn't have hit you with it. But you feel you deserve it, and deserve to show it off to people who know you don't deserve it. But then you say you're going to beat Jonny Fly, and me in the process. Am I too good for you to beat, so you have to steal the win out from under my by pinning Fly? Good luck with that, because pinning Fly is something I couldn't even do. Really, you need to pin the weak link in this match. Too bad you can't pin yourself, bro."
The smirk grows larger, more teeth visible to the camera. Has Nathan ever heard of teeth whitening toothpaste?
"Donald, I admire your passion to try and bury me with your words. But it just isn't working. You said I was going to amount to nothing, which is not true. You said I wouldn't win the world title, and I didn't. So you were right about one thing, and probably will never be right about the other. From the words of Brad Kane 'and not a single Fuck was given that day'
How about the things I say about you? Whatever I say about you I don't have to wait for, because they are already true. You have lost to me. You did not win the US championship back like Speede and Mr. FPV had to attempt to do. You aren't doing what you're preaching. You don't deserve to call yourself a champion. Blah blah blah.
You will bear no proof this week other than you don't deserve to be in the ring with me. I have already proven what happens when we fight one on one. Anything more, and the fans might get bored of the repeat losses of you against me."
A pause, and the grin shrinks some.
"Yet you, a man who had to prove yourself your entire career, is trying to bury my hardwork. Seth knew nothing of me when I arrived in WCF. I won a few matches against sub-par matches, and got thrown into a tourney with several mid-carders and you. I will go out on a limb and say the One Invitational was your chance to win a few easy matches and get you a title shot against Odin. I doubt Seth expected anyone to rise up and beat you. Really, he was giving you a title shot by making you work against rookies and some untalented wrestlers. And I beat you, when I wasn't expected to make it past the first round. So after all that work I had done by beating you, one of the best in the business, Seth could do nothing but give me the shot I deserve.
D-Day, I'm trying to be modest and say beating you was an accomplishment in my career that earned me me title shot against Black. But you want to bury it, therefore burying yourself in the process. I cannot disprove you title wins in the WCF becuase I only need to watch the old clips. But I will not be deterred when I say you don't deserve to be the champion without contesting for it against a worthy opponent. And really, in my eyes, I am already the United States champion. The finals of the One Invitational was meant to be the match where you prove to everyone that you deserved to be champ. I was meant to be the one you beat to say 'I won three matches in one night just to prove I am the deserving champ.' But you lost, and you failed. I am United States champion by right, and you by name. Really, you were just keeping it warm for me until I fought for it in an official match. Well it seems by your words that that is this week. So go on and leave it on the table for me to collect after Slam this week.
When I walk into Slam, I have more to lose than you and Fly combined. I face two champions as a rookie on a losing streak. A third loss in three weeks, and I'll be tossed off the ladder back to the bottom, forced to work my way back up. I have to win, or lose my current spot in WCF. I am a superstar, but even superstars lose. And since I don't have all those years under my belt like you do, a few losses is more to me than it is to you. People are used to seeing you and Corey lose, but not me. So yeah, I have a lot at stake this week. And I don't intend on losing it."
Nathan pauses again, pointing at the camera.
"I lose to Corey Black, and you beat him. I can admit it without feeling bad because I know I'm still better than you. And I'll break it to you. I am still above you on the ladder ranking because I have already beaten you. In anybody should be above me, it should be Fly. He's done what you cannot. And will not.
Living Hell is like home to me, Donald, so don't expect me to be frightened by those words. I never needed to make up reasons why I will beat you this week. My evidence is our match at One. What's yours?"
Nathan pauses.
"Jonny, you've been quiet this week, but I doubt you'll miss Slam. You had mobsters, or whoever the hell those people were, all over you the week before Payback and you still showed. So I expect for you to show. And I'll be ready for you.
Jonny, you've beaten me in this ring before, something that only three other people have done before. But don't expect it to be easy this week, because I know I'll be facing you this week. I have no grudge against you, nor do I want to beat your face in. I want a good fight, win or lose. I can accept it if you come out top, because you've proven everything you've done in this company. You will probably be the best Television champion ever. Maybe.
I don't want your title. I'd rather pin D-Day over you anyway. You've already made your title worth something. D-Day cannot. So might I suggest you let me take the United States title off of D-Day. Then we can have a little competition who could be the better champion. You have a substantinal led, but I'll try to give you a little challenge. Just like I will in the ring."
Nathan gives a slight wave to the camera.
"I have nothing more to say except this. See you two on Sunday."
The scene fades out.
