Dag and I are still coming hard for Slam this week. This isn't a matter of that.
Basically I am STUMPED on what to do with The Family. We've had some bad luck, especially the first few weeks with half of the group randomly dropping out. No big deal.
So then we were kind of shooting for this swamp gimmick Cooper thing and Charon felt like the backbone to that and he was a very valuable member however for personal reasons he is also now unavailable. Completely understandable. So we dropped that.
So we scouted Chance Von Crank. A dude that had been consistent for a few months and was a quality writer that FIT with us. A week after joining up personal reasons came up with him as well and now he's out.
I'm starting to think this stable is cursed. Never had so many setbacks with a group before, it's like soon as we're about to get on our feet something happens.
So anyway I'm having a rough time making a decision on what to actually do with The Family. On one hand this stable has been a pain in the ass and it hasn't even taken off after THREE months. Should I just finally call it a done deal or does anyone have any ideas or suggestions or something?

The team came together like a crap shoot. It was a bunch of characters that IC had nothing to do with each other.
Not to rub my own balls, but with Rebellution we took 3 weeks to tell a story of them coming together to each other's aid to help build mutual trust and alignment with each other. But we're a face stable, your stable and the sudden emergence should have worked well.
However, everyone is so intrinsically different that you need defined roles. To go with the Family motif, make Logan 'Dad' He's the most experienced in the WCF, and in turn in wrestling in general. Make it known that Logan is as bad ass as everyone knows he is. he can be funny, but when he's serious no one can beat him. Use the serious side but bring in the Logan humor.
He's the Dad. He knows everything, and he doesn't care if you think you know or not, he's going to tell you how things should be done, and why. He's going to give you advice regardless of whether or not you asked for it. This can be taken in so many directions.
Then there's Dag, a man so hard set in his ways, and loyal to his beliefs almost to a fault. However, Logan can manipulate him. Dag is like a wild dog, who believes and buys into everything that Logan preaches. He will go to any lengths to gain approval from his 'father figure' and Dag in general needs to become violent as fuck.
Logan won't get his hands dirty. Logan lets Dag do all the dirty work. Logan never has a clean match. Dag is always there and Dag always gets involved. If Logan loses, he blames Dag and dag buys into it. He apologizes but at the end of the Day Logan knows that Dag will be loyal to him as long as he gives him enough praise to keep him motivated.
Basically, never leave each other's side. Stay together, run segments together, and Dag, in his RPs can be as eloquent and strong spoken as he has been, but on camera, on Slam. Work against some of the new guys to help get yourself over. We want to sell your gimmick, the cooper thing would have been awesome and losing Deuce was a hit. But bring something else to the table and we will sell it.
You're fucking Logan. We sell Logan.
And dag, fucking listen to him, pick his brain. He seems to like you for some reason

I think that the primary thing that the family is lacking, and this may admittedly be by design, is a purpose and a sense of solidarity.
The latter is understandable with the revolving door roster (none of which is anyone's fault) but the thing is...
I don't know what the family's goal is as a stable. To win the world title and to win matches? Ok, sweet. How do you plan to do it?
Are you doing an NWO or Beach Krew style takeover? Again, cool. How are you going to do this?
Is it a Wyatt style movement where you're preaching a way of life? Well again the story is a lack of solidarity.
As a reader, I don't know from a narrative viewpoint why the stable exists- and it could be that I missed it somehow, but if you want a cohesive story, you need to focus on that goal, and everyone in your stable should be working towards that endgame.
The People's Choice to use myself as an example was created to oppose BeachKrew. So we did, and we feuded with them constantly lol. Eventually the Krew won the war so we bowed out, but during our duration, we were constantly struggling to keep them in check, that was the story lol.
What is the Family's story?

This is always kind of been lingering in the back of my mind to move Logan towards a role similar to that. Thanks so much man, that was exactly the kind of thing I needed to hear. That was a gat damn spark, Battle. Thank you a ton for the idea.

So here's my idea: What if I try to write the Family to play into Dag's terroristic goals? If you guys have missed it, I suppose I've all but written Dag out of his close alliance with Logan inadvertently to tell the story I have decided on, which is Dag joining an anarchist pan-Scandinavian revolutionary organization. Do you think it would work out to have Dag and Logan both have their own agendas and work together to mutually benefit eachother?

It wasn't even my idea to form this group to begin with, so not trying to shift blame off myself but you're right we've never had an identity and been struggling to find one ever since. So yeah, not really sure what The Family is, however after reading Battles post above it gave me an idea where to take it.

From what I remember about The Family's debut and your role play for Fifteen and the Final Destination match was that Logan's goal was to bring back the good old days of WCF, which also were his personal golden age. You can tie that into the idea of Logan as parent, but more than just his stable (which right now appears to be one other wrestler), he's the Dad of the entire fed. Make him try to reshape WCF in the image he thinks it should be, like a hyper-controlling father figure. Feud with wrestlers he wants to mold so that they're more like the "old school" guys that were part of the company when he was just starting out.

This is why I think it could work where Dag is obviously Logan's subservient, but he thinks he's his superior. To have Dag see Logan want to change and mold people would make Dag think they are very similar in ideals and if Logan tells Dag what he wants to hear then Dag would work with him thinking they are shaping people into what Dag wants when in reality it's what Logan wants.

I think this is spot on. I also want to see that vicious side of dag. Right now he's very enigmatic and cryptic... Let's face it, a fuckin wierdo. But he's one of the most evil people in the fed, show it with actions instead of words. my idea with wolfram was to take newbs and demolish them when they up and leave. You guys can have that. Once a guy no shows for two weeks in a row have the family make and example out of them. If they ever decide to come back they have a built in angle too. Win-win

Ana Valentine was active. She was around for a while before that. And I'm not saying to put someone on fire, I'm saying to beat them down in front of everyone, you savage!
This is meant to be for those people who show up, sign up, post one to, realize that they can't cut it and instead of quitting they just let Seth Boole them the next week and they no show. Seth gives them the benefit of the doubt and books them again. They no show again. Then the family beats them down.

In these situations, I always ask myself, "What would SS Oberstürmfuhrer Josef Mengele do?"

I didn't really think about it beforehand but given the Family's history I think Logan and Dag constantly bringing in new guys into the group until a core group actually sticks would be funny. Like, a brand new guy to the WCF joins and Logan is like "WE'RE THE FAMILY. WE'RE A FAMILY, WCF. Uh... new guy, what's your name again?"
So it'd be a slow burn finding a group of guys that actually sticks but once you'd get that core group I think it would have been worthwhile watching The Family transform from a group with a slow start to an actual cohesive unit.
