Hi, Steve Orbit here. Do you hate Roman Reigns? Ok, maybe you hate the character, but you don't hate the guy who portrays him, right? It's the booking. They're forcing him to go out there and smile through the boos like a jackass, but he's working hard to improve, right? He's probably a cool guy, just a victim of WWE booking. While some of that may be partially true... fuck this guy. And here's why: Interview with a Douchebag

I assume you're referring to the fact that he called it a kids show? Lol I expected his interview to go way worse than that...

I dunno... I thought he handled that interview quite well to be honest. It's not like he flipped out like CM Punk does every time an interviewer asks him a question he doesn't like lol

This PR fluff has zero to do with Reigns to be honest. It's written by WWE, then sent over as copy to the paper. It's an advert in disguise, and not a very good one either.

Roman Reigns tows the company line. It comes with the job these days. I'm bothered about the kids' show comment, but that's who they're targeting. I imagine that when I was creaming myself over SummerSlam 91 when I was six, 31 year old fans were thinking the same thing we're thinking now about Roman. There's still stuff for the adults. Applaud when it's good, laugh when it's bad.

Takes time off in the build to WM to get a fucking nose job. Granted, nobody missed him, but still. This is your top guy?
"Don't flip me off or you'll get kicked out! We're a family show!" They're a fucking family show when it's convenient. They do plenty of adult stuff on the shows. I'm not complaining about the lack of adult content. Nobody dislikes Roman because he's playing to kids. The character sucks, he can't wrestle, he can't talk, he has no charisma, and they are putting him in terrible storylines. He's just brushing it off like "lol I'm not here for adult males, I'm here for the kids because it's a kids show". That's fucked but at the same time, I bet those words did come directly from Vince. If not directly as Crow suggests, they at least were told to Roman by Vince and then he just parrots it and tells himself that to deal with the fact that he's in a really ugly spot with the fans.
He should be trying to appeal to all fans. He should have said something like, you know, I'm still NEW TO THIS BUSINESS, I'm working hard every day to improve, the company is trusting me with a lot and it's a lot of pressure but I'm doing my best. That would have been a respectable thing to say. Not "fucking deal with it, I'm here, the kids love me so what's your problem". Fuck this guy.

I've given up on the world title. The last guy to hold the belt that I liked was Bryan, and before that Punk lol...
The main event scene has been all kinds of horrible badcisions pretty much since they unified.
But then again my favorite belt has always been the U.S. Title, and that's been consistently solid pretty much since Dean had it (even though he never defended it lol)

Again, as much as I disliked the kids's show comment, I went to MSG last Friday and saw plenty of happy kids, especially when Reigns came out. It's nice to be reminded that at one time you liked the cheesy stuff before the Internet happened and you became a bitter mark. One day, those kids will be like us and they'll be able to enjoy it less because their brains will have become fully formed. It's sad, really.

I liked that he didn't show up every week. It made every match special. Since Rollins it's been a clusterfunk. 3 years ago we would have been pumped of reigns was champ as the beast in the shield. We rioted when Batista won the royal rumble instead of him we all said that he was going to be the next guy and we were happy Now we're not. He hasn't delivered. He's been set up to fail but so has a lot of people and they didn't. I'm never gonna stop watching and that's why they're not targeting me to make me happy. I also think it's a lot to do with the fact that 10-15 years ago they were targeting 18-35 yo demographic. (Us). Now we're showing it to our kids and they're targeting them. In about 10 years when they're 18 then it will get good again because they'll ever be targeting that demographic again and we will enjoy it once more We were spoiled with such an awesome competition btwn wcw and wwf. Now without competition and the wwe making money hands over fist why would they change?

It's no surprise he wants WWE to be a kids show, considering how he acts like a spoiled brat all the time. This isn't the first and won't be the last. But I guess, to his credit, this is less of a douchebag interview than the ones he gave last year? Good show, man.

The problem with Roman Reigns is that Mr. McMahon wants to turn him into his cousin, The Rock. Look at the success that Rollins and Ambrose are having after The Shield broke up, both are more skilled on the mic than Reigns and the fans love them. Remember what the fan response was to The Rock when he started out as Rocky Maivia? That is were Reigns is right now, he just hasn't found the right niche like Rollins and Ambrose. Vince is trying to force feed Reigns to the fans like he is Hogan and the "Superhero" image isn't working because it doesn't suit him. Time will tell. . .

Honestly, yeah, calling it a "kids show" is bothersome, but its clearly what he has to say its not like he can come out and say "Oh, they boo me, because WWE is booking me poorly" (not that I believe he would say that if he could, god knows I wouldn't complain being the top guy), so yeah, he kind of has to dance on a line, and unfortunately he picked a less than savory comment he has to follow through on...
And honestly, I don't hate Reigns. A top guy? Maybe not now, but he is a solid ring worker. Yeah, he needs to work on his mic talent a lot, which is essential, but honestly keeping his segments sparse seems to work somewhat. Comes off as a guy who DOESN'T have to say much, which at least works way better than just constant smugness and longer promos that show he really lacks...well, a general character besides "Hey, I'm roman reigns".
I agree with shadowlove, Rock was the same way, and who knows, maybe they'll never be able to make it work, and maybe it just takes one change, but I won't say I hate the guy either way, because by no means is he a bumbling embarassment like so many people we've seen walk through those curtains. He was just...disappointing, coming off that Shield hype is not a good way to launch him into "new cena" status, but hopefully they'll do something about that soon.
Now, I see a lot of talk about how bad the product is now, and yeah, its messy in plenty of spots, but honestly, anyone remember what it was like 8-10 years ago? Abysmal, punch-kick-punch-kick-fest galore. Awful soap opera bullshit, hacky-supernatural storylines with no resolutions, stupid bottle necking of the top spot which suffocates the roster as a whole. Is the current product perfect? No. Some of the booking is head scratching, but I see them at least trying to find ways to change things up in a post-kayfabe world, and with a fan base that keeps clamoring for more of the "old-stuff" (if I see Rock come back one more time to spew catchphrases, or another 'destroys someone's car' segment, I'm gonna shit) and a roster that seems riddled with injuries, I can see why there might be somewhat difficult to keep things from devolving like they have. Not justifying it, but it feels like some people are really jumping the gun with their pitchforks sometimes.
It gets frustrating sometimes when you look and see serious problems in the booking, but the contrast between people's reactions and what I see are somewhat stark. I'm not happy with everything, but I'm still flabbergasted Kevin Steen (Owens), Tyler Black (Seth Rollins), and El Generico (Sami Zayn) are all in a goddamn WWE ring, getting some serious hype. Also, no one has given birth to a hand lately, and that is quite an accomplishment to me.

He HAD to get his nose-shit fixed ASAP because he couldn't last longer than 5 minutes in the ring without it being fixed (or fucking up his entire shit/career for life if he didn't - WWE Doctors kept pushing him on and on until it was time to stop him. Hmm. Doctors fucking up? That doesn't sound right. CMPUNK.EXE)
The entire interview seemed like John Cena did it as Roman Reigns so I don't give a shit. He's perfectly filling in to the "SOME PEOPLE BOO ME, SOME PEOPLE CHEER ME, WHATEVZ AT LEAST I GET A REACTION LOL." It's a terrible role for him, but they don't have a choice because (ESPN SPORTSCENTER) DUNDUNDUN DUNDUNDUN: They booked themselves into a corner!
Roman is a cool bro, but he's being forced and forced and WWE has to decide this Sunday what to do with his gimmick/role in the main roster. Do we continue the force and hope the fans slowly change their minds or truly accept it? Or do we keep holding it off and have him come close for the second year in a row and change up the booking?
Right now he's tweaked his gimmick so he's less-talky-more-hitty which is perfect.. It's just HHH is doing NO WORK AT ALL in being a heel running away from him. HHH has done NOTHING to make Roman look strong. Done nothing to make Roman look like a babyface. Done nothing but make Roman come off more like a douche heel on television and it's weird. This is what happens though when you work with HHH. He just does this. Remember Brock destroying HHH's office and ruining the lives of HHH's employees? HHH was like "LOLSO WHAT I DONT CARE ABOUT THAT SHIT".. Sigh.. HHH is just a terrible creative mind and unless he's directed to, he just won't help put people over.
TL;DR. The interview is alright, Roman is being forced, we'll see if they continue (probably will), and the fans just have to keep hijacking it until it changes.

Applaud when it's good, laugh when it's bad. So you said this in another thread and I just have to say this in response: In no way, shape or form, should we ever lower our expectations for the biggest pro wrestling company in the world to the point that we just laugh things off. There are four un-creative CEOs in charge of an 8 man team who writes for another 10 man team with 6 agents who all work with 3 executive producers who work with the BEST wrestling roster that ANY pro wrestling company has ever had in the history of pro wrestling. I'm not kidding. The roster is SO fucking good, they can easily sell out shows without their top 10 superstars in two months time worth of booking. THAT'S how good it is and yet, we're supposed to just take the shit without being somewhat pissed off that we don't spend upwards of 5 hours a week, let alone up to 10 hours a week on this? They want us to spend time, money, and get emotionally attached to something that if it fails we're just supposed to laugh it off? I think they should be held to higher expectations and we should voice our concerns and continue to voice them so it changes. That kind of expectation is what has killed Wrestlemanis to be honest. Wrestlemania 30 was a fuckin' joke, and WM 31 was even worse. How the fuck do you have a 30 minute segment with Rock, Austin and Hogan and it's botched and boring at the BIGGEST show of the year NOT to mention you START the show with a 30 minute promo like you do 52 fucking Mondays out of the year. Stop expecting less of them, and put their feet to the fire. We deserve better than this and they should deliver.
