GIMMICK:
The definition of a narcissistic heel seeking controversy and reaction. Van Slade's personality is littered with a variety of humor, dysfunction and personality issues; he's an advocate for mocking. He's fond of his own perceptions, and never backs down. The most intriguing aspect of the D.V.S. gimmick - he is in absolute denial and believes he's a super hero; he's also currently dressing like a Luchadore since he's decided to 'channel his inner-Lucha spirit'. [Scroll Down: The Idiots Guide to Deviance].PERSONAL HISTORY:
Dan Van Slade (Daniel Slader; Van Slade is the ancestral European surname) was born August 8, 1990 (24 years old), in Missoula, Montana. He is a 2008 Big Sky High School graduate and 2012 graduate of the University of Minnesota. He was a notable four year starting defensive end for the Big Sky High School Eagles football team winning three city championships during his tenure (2005, 2007, and 2008). He started on the same defense as linebacker Jordan Tripp - the fifth round draft pick for the Miami Dolphins in the 2014 NFL Draft. He won a scholarship in 2008 to the University of Minnesota and graduated in 2012 with a degree in Business Management; he also minored in Accounting while obtaining a consistent 3.3 GPA and wrestling nationwide for a well-rounded Minnesota Golden Gophers wrestling squad. He worked in Minneapolis at the corporate headquarters of an internationally-known restaurant chain when he began professional wrestling training. Professional wrestling has been a passion of Van Slade's since he was six years old.WRESTLING HISTORY & ACCOMPLISHMENTS: [W: 7 | L: 4 | D: 0] [CURRENT WCF HARDCORE CHAMPION]
Dan Van Slade has devoted much of his time to a vigorous training schedule. He was "in talks" with the timeless classic Wrestling Championship Federation for more than a year, but held himself back to "well-oil the machine."
He signed with the WCF on November 13, 2014, but it did not become official until six days later.
"Devious" Dan Van Slade debuted in WCF on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at WCF Wednesday Night in the Torneo Cibernetico main event. The winner of the Torneo Cibernetico would become number one contender to the WCF Hardcore Championship. D.V.S. defeated Louis Bartkowski in the final, but also eliminated Sin Rostro, Jr., and Cory Scarecrow, to get there. He is currently number one contender to "The Mack" Steve Orbit's WCF Hardcore Title.
Van Slade will return to the ring December 7, 2014, when he faces tough newcomer Hardcore Alex in a singles match. The outcome of the match will determine how well Dan can officiate the later triple threat tag team match between three of the deadliest teams in WCF history battling for championship contendorship. This meant the Vapor Kings, and "The Mack" Steve Orbit was involved. It's obvious what "Devious" Dan Van Slade is thinking, but it's now time to prove it to the rest of the world.
Dan Van Slade may have ended Hardcore Alex's career, but it only began the journey of a man lost within the global culture climate. The following few weeks began the opening of Pandora's Box. We learned through a profound glimpse narrated by Mr. Rogers that Dan Van Slade hails from a long line of malevolent deviants with a zero tolerance policy for the ethics of human nature. These ghosts couldn't lift Van Slade through a terrible half-month. Van Slade, still WCF's number one contender to the Hardcore Championship, felt the nasty end of the beating after being taught a lesson from WCF legend Bobby Cairo, and the hottest talent on the roster - Kaz Mazy. It was during this tag match that Van Slade teamed with newcomer Maelstrom, and the tension born.
Van Slade took his first loss with a grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt one could find. He took his voice to the internet where he was booked to wage a war of words with current Internet Champion extraordinaire Jayson Price, his newest foe - Maelstrom, the Doomsday Prophet - Seifer Black and some jackass Boy Scout Leader named Stuart Slane. Once again, Dan Van Slade took his second straight loss on January 28, 2014; WCF ONE '14. It was clear throughout the jawing and name-calling that the biggest goal on Van Slade's mind was winning the Internet Championship, defeating Maelstrom, and moving on to Steve Orbit.
Dan was growing closer to his goal, and his second loss mattered very little. He continued his journey up the ladder to the next peice of the puzzle - Steve Orbit, and now the Human Hellstorm - Maelstrom. The best possible way for Dan to deal with his unsuccessful attempt to seek and destroy was to dream. With the help of one Dr. Perciful Lee - Dan Van Slade has come to the conclusion that he is, and will be, a super hero. The Super Deviant. Dressed exactly like Superman, but with a deviant's twist, Dan took his own life by storm. If he couldn't be any more insane - he now firmly believes he is the son of the King of Hipton, a man named Jebediah Von Super Deviant. More information will soon develop, especially after Dan Van Slade's pristine athletic ability displayed at the January 4 SLAM. The Super Deviant unanimously defeated Maelstrom; and as he mentioned that very day prior to the event - he defeated Maelstrom with ease.
But this doesn't stop the Human Hellstorm, nor does it stop WCF from halting this clash within the Universe. The Super Deviant will team with Maelstrom against two hot rising stars named Caleb Collins and Warpath at the January 11 episode of SLAM. This is certain to get...very...interesting.
[THE REST CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS...]
APPEARANCE & ATTIRE:
Dan Van Slade would say that he is God's vision of absolute perfection, and has called himself an 'absolute physical specimen.' Van Slade certainly put much time and effort into his physical appearance, and his build is often compared to WWE superstar John Cena albeit there's much left to contrast. Van Slade wears his hair a stringy, curly wet mess, and he proudly dons a five o'clock shadow. He has a personal requirement for closely shaving only for title matches. He typically wears purple or blue colors to enhance his light blue eyes. He's missing three teeth (two lower, and one just beyond his left cheek) but still has an awkwardly charming smile.
Van Slade has a tattoo on his right bicep that reads: "I POKE SLEEPING GIANTS" vertically, word-above-word in bold, plain text.
Another tattoo on his left bicep is a yellow smiley face with a small caption underneath: "HARASS A NICE DAY!" A new tattoo is now present on his left breast, about two and one-half inches in width, and just over three in length. It's the Super Deviant 'SD' logo, which of course looks a lot like the Superman 'S' logo.
He is always ready to wrestle when he's on the air, and now sports a black tank-top advertising the Super-T logo for El Taimado tucked into tight black leather pants with white boots laced to the shin, white elbow pads, black tape wrapped around his wrists, a heavy gold chain around his neck with brass knuckles hanging from it, and the El Taimado mask. The mask allows Dan's black curly hair to flow from the top, and there's a hole cut for his chin and mouth. The design of the mask looks much like Rey Mysterio's although the eye holes are covered by mesh and the nose is painted red. He often wears this get-up out of character, too, so that he's eternally contacting his inner-lucha spirit. If he's not sporting the El Taimado look - blue jeans and the self-promoting t-shirt are usually complimented with a rotating stock of Nike shoes. Van Slade's wardrobe is nothing fancy, but he'll always get the job done.
CUSTOM ENTRANCE:
THEME MUSIC: "Biochemical Equation (Datsik & Excision Remix)" by The Wu-Tang Clan Ft. RZA & MF Doom |
RZA hits the poetry to a dubstep remix of 'Biochemical Equation', a collaboration with MF Doom. The fans' heads drift toward the stage where they see the image of Dan Van Slade deviously grinning on the screen. The screen flickers as a mask fades on-and-off Dan's face. Suddenly, his voice blasts through the speakers - 'EL TAIMADO!' Dan shouts as the thirteen second mark hits and RZA begins the epic clash between Dub trance and street slingin' Suddenly - Dan Van Slade - dressed in his best Lucha Libre threads - walks intensely slow from behind the curtain.
There is no love for this man. Fans boo, and react appropriately.
He's wearing a black and white luchadore mask - his hair pulled through an opening in the top, the jaw cut out so that his chin and mouth are displayed; it looks like an evil Mexican clown with it's red nose, nothing elaborate. He's in an all black tight suit separated by a white leather belt that keeps it together at the waist, and that's behind the WCF Hardcore Championship. The pants are tucked into shin-high white leather boots with black skulls air brushed on the ankle. 'EL TAIMADO' is read in bold white printed down the sides of his pant legs. There's a T printed in the Superman logo instead of the Super D once proudly displayed. The top is sleeveless. He dons white elbow pads and black tape around his wrists. The costume is topped with a bright, extremely thick, gold chain around his neck where brass knuckles proudly hang. There's a fresh tattoo on his left bicep, and underneath the bright yellow smiley face that says 'Harass A Nice Day!' The ink reads: 'EL TAIMADO!' in a plain, bold, black text.
Kyle Steel: Heading to the ring - and weighing in at 251 pounds! He is from MIS...
Kyle pauses as Dan Van Slade slowly walks toward the ring. If we could see his eyes under the mesh covers - they'd be direct and attentive. He eyes the ring as Steel corrects himself.
Kyle Steel: ...He is summoned from Dan Van Slade's INNER DEVIANT...
Steel extends an arm toward Dan's direction, and the Hardcore Champion pauses for a brief moment to slap the faceplate of the WCF Hardcore Title twice, and then his chest three times. Dan points forward toward the ring.
Kyle Steel: ...The WCF Haaarrrrrrrrrrdcoorrrrrrrrrrrrre CHAMPION...
Dan then shouts the following in unison while simultaneously jabbing his index finger toward the ring.
Kyle Steel: ...ELLLLLLLLL TAIMADO...DAN...VAN...SLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE!
Boos. A mass eruption of hate. The now masked hardcore champion walks methodically slow to the ring, and pauses at the apron while 'Biochemical Equation' continues to spit raw lyrics. El Taimado leaps and lands feet first onto the ring apron with ease, and without needing assistance. He then grabs the top rope and slingshots himself into the ring as Kyle Steel backs up - El Taimado dives, tucks, and rolls onto his feet as he stands in the center of the ring. He unbuttons the Hardcore Championship and whips it into the air. He then rips off his thick gold brass knuckle necklace and whips it into the air with his opposite hand.
El Taimado Dan Van Slade: EL TAIMADO!
Dan shouts as he displays his title proudly. He relishes in the moment, showered with disgust, as he then walks over and hands his title and chain to the referee.
WRESTLING STYLE:
Hybrid - Brawler/American Traditional/Lucha-Libre/Wreckless |
SCOUTING REPORT: Van Slade loves to reverse moves, and does so with grace. He's a magician in the ring, but this is countered by time and opponent. He's human and will grow tired further into a match. The opposition is the ultimate factor. Everything will depend on the challenge. He was on a roll until a recent match against Bobby Cairo and Kaz Mazy - Van Slade looked poorly conditioned and sluggish; but at WCF ONE, and against a few very strong opponents - he looked fantastic. His recent match against Maelstrom on January 4, 2015, defined Van Slade's grace and ring presence. Van Slade also modifies many moves in the ring and creates a variety of move combinations in an attempt to slow down the opponent. He's fast, brute, and a pain-in-the-ass. Don't expect Van Slade to stay down, lay down, or bow out. His longevity and charisma will make up for any time spikes, or ass beatings.
Dan has begun training in the art of the Lucha-Libre performance. This is not due to channeling his inner-lucha spirit, but mainly because he's a big fan of lucha-libre wrestling and he'll do anything to strengthen his performance in the ring.

Managed By/Entourage:
No manager or valet at this time.
He's often seen with his Agent, David, but they're rarely paired at the arena. Rumor has it - Dan Van Slade has a phobia, and he claims the presence of his Agent at a live event could exacerbate things. The hearsay has neither been denied or confirmed.
Van Slade is also currently associated with Dr. Perciful Lee, a career counselor that's helped Dan come to the conclusion that being whatever he wants to be could help Dan find his way in life. Dr. Lee, also known as Dr. Dangerous Lee, tends to have more to say than David. He will also be seen less at the arena, and tends to spend his time writing about Dan Van Slade's condition. Dr. Lee is a very vocal, intelligent, and opinionated man. He's the Devil whispering in Dan's ear.
The most recent addition to the Van Slade, or El Taimado, entourage is Hidalgo, Dan's Spanish teacher and David's new assistant. Not much is currently known of Hidalgo; and more will develop soon.
