Teo got a legendary Bayley from KotR and a second from Road to Glory, within 6 hours of each other.
Bayley being Teo's favorite diva, that makes this a very good day.

I'm legend, about to be legend+ after maxing out a couple more combined cards. And if someone creates a WCF team, I'm in.
Also saw a youtube vid of someone that lost a bet and paid up by feeding a maxxed Survivor card into a comon card. Ouch!

I just got this game. Someone be so kind as to give me tips and stuff...
Should I play nothing but exhibition matches until I get enough decent cards to do the other match types? And should I scrap all common and uncommon cards to improve the rares that I do have?

Keep your uncommons for now. Max them out and combine them to make cards that compete with super rare. Go ahead and do the KOTR, since it costs you no time and gives you a free card when it's over. But you can't combine a card in the kotr till the event is over.
Keep the top 16 superstars and 4 divas. There are events that make use of this many.
Until you get to epic, I would suggest tag aligning your exhibition deck. This means watching your arrows. Either go all blue, or all yellow. Whichever way you go, make sure to have opposite facing directions. Each direction is a half a diamond. When you fill the diamond completely, you get bonus stats on your cards. Left and right is a diamond. Up and down is a diamond. Up and left is a penalty. This allows weaker cards to win over slightly more powerful cards in tag team matches.
Most people play only specialty matches, just doing enough exhibitions to level up the cards. These people also complain about not getting cards above rare. PLAY THE EXHIBITIONS. Do about 25 matches in exhibition every day. More to improve your chances. You WILL get those super rare, ultra rare, epics, and legendary cards. My 16 and 4 are all epic/legendary with half of them perfect pros. MOST of these cards came from exhibition, although I did have to purchase my epic diva cards. with the exception one which I received just today on a pick.
This should be enough to get you started. The rest is up to you.

Leveling your cards makes them better. Combine two MAX level cards to make a PERFECT PRO, which basically starts at the maxxed stats of your original card, but is once again level zero. Once it is maxxed out, it should be middle range for 2 tiers higher than the original card.
Also, the Ascension cards - Victor/Konnor, are ONLY available as common. They are food for everything.

Here's how it works basically in my experience. You can combine two cards to make a pro card, indicated by a star on the card.
You can get the maximum potential out of a card by combining two fully leveled cards, which earns you a gold star.
In general, a pro card is stronger than a non-pro card of the tier above it.
So a pro common will be much stronger than a regular uncommon, but a pro uncommon will be stronger than a regular rare, so on and so forth.
There's usually a weekly event that you can participate in, these will require up to 16 wrestlers and 4 divas, as has already been stated lol.
Your cards can also get their stats levelled by playing them in matches. This will increase the overall potential of a pro, so it is worth it to grind out their stats to max before combining them.
King of the Ring is a tournament against other players (in Exhibition you only play against AI). It is one match per hour that you have no control over, and the cards you enter have a stamina bar that must be refilled. As it goes down, their overall stats go down. However, every win you get earns you an energy card, which completely refills said stamina bar. So in theory you would have an hour after every match to earn enough energy cards to refill your team of 10, although you can stockpile up to 25 energies.
Last but not least, don't get too married to one specific card. There's alot of cool rares that are awesome (like Terry Funk or Hillbilly Jim) but as you work your way up the tiers, it really thins out to a smaller pool. As it stands Sin Cara only goes up to Rare, and most of the NXT guys stop at uncommon, with only Kevin Owens and Hideo Itami at Super Rare so far.
One of my least favorite wrestlers is Triple H, but I had to use him for a very long time just because he had the highest stats. It is almost completely random what cards you get, so the best way to get more is to keep playing. Sadly, this might mean alot of grinding before you get a deck of all your favorites, ESPECIALLY at the higher tiers.

For Reference, I'll just read from the card catalog real fast- bear in mind that these card numbers include pros, so the actual number of cards is the first number divided in half-
As of right now There are :
102(51) commons 108 (54) uncommons 212 (106) rares 316 (158) super rares 264 (132) Ultra rares 90 (45) Epics 94 (47) Legendaries 128 (64) Survivors.
And of those survivors, alot are event cards or special cards that are unobtainable without buying them, and the rares, super rares, and ultra rares can be fusions from Season 1 (Which are for your purposes are essentially unobtainable as well).
But my point there is to show how they don't have every card in every tier, which is annoying since I would totally use an all Alex Riley deck.

Heres a question... in road to glory if your cards are a bit shit like mine are... is it best to play the games for 1 or 3 points instead of the 5 point ones? Ive lost so many 5 point matches its unreal

Ive lost so many 5 point matches its unreal The thing about Road to Glory is that it's built on a brick wall system. You can work yoru way up through the tiers, but at a certain point, the opponents are just better than your deck. Even though I have a legendary tier deck, I can't consistently get survivor cards because it's above me. Meaning that you'll probably have a hard time getting anywhere higher than super rare if you have just started within the last day or so, and even then when you get up to the Miz, you might want to start doing +3 matches. The idea is that +1's are easy to win, +3's are meant to be on par with your deck, and +5's are meant to be difficult to beat. When you're at a legendary tier though, you run through the +5 commons like they're made of paper, but if your deck is rare tier, you probably wouldn't even be able to score a point against, say, an Epic +1.
