HEY STEVE ORBIT HERE
I was talking to a WCF member earlier today and this is a topic that's come up many times with many people, including myself over my couple of years here.
We have quite a few really good members who are new, some not so new, but have been stuck in the dreaded "float" where you have no storyline or direction for your character. Since WCF is very community-based I thought it might be a good idea for us to have a thread dedicated to helping people get involved in storylines.
I remember being new and not really sure how to even start a storyline. I was too intimidated to PM people out of the blue. The purpose of this thread will be to help people shake those feelings and break the ice, so to speak.
How this is gonna work... not exactly sure, but I think a good starting point would be for people to just reply and say they are interested in working on a storyline with someone. Maybe some of us who have been here for a while can help facilitate things.
Beyond that, maybe we can just toss storyline ideas around for people to get inspiration from.
Anyway, hopefully this will work out!

I meant to post this in OOC. Can one of you young, strapping M-O-Ds move it there for me?

I'll be willing to put my name forward, not like I have anything going on really in WCF.

Yeah, I'm up to do an angle with anyone. Not exactly sure where to begin, though...

I think it's best to start simple. No need to rewrite the book on... well, booking.
I normally work from PPV to PPV. Do segments at Slam or on Weds Night that build your angle or storyline. Build up to a PPV match or have an arc at the PPV.
No need to over think anything. If you get two heels, try a tag team. If you find a face/heel thing, do a feud and plan out some gimmick matches you'd like to do at the next couple PPVs.

Hopefully we can all get some good advice (or dick pics) from some of the established, wiser guys here.. The Bobby Cairos, Jonny Flys, Logans, CDs, GDs, etc.

I didn't E-fed for many years and just recently got back into it. As a newbie now, I have to say I find a lot of fun on the Internet Board and often a good feud can just spring up there within a few quick posts.

Excellent advice.
The only advice I can offer is don't be afraid to PM people. Read the entire shows and see who's doing segments and storylines and who is just kinda going through the motions getting thrown in random matches. PM the random people and ask them if theyv want to get into something. I think most people will agree as long as they aren't already doing something. Any storyline is better than none.
Having a storyline is almost as important as RPing every week. That's how you get established in the fed and grow your character as PART of the fed. If you aren't doing storylines and working with different people, you stagnate. You can win every week but it's still not as satisfying as telling a good story and involving others. You don't even need IDEAS. Those come from brainstorming with others. All you need is a willingness to talk to other members.

Okay, I'm going to give this a shot. There's no specific template or format for this, so I'm just going to come up with one on the fly.
Character: Marina Valdivia
Her gimmick: A strong-willed, positive person who's trying to overcome her previous wrongs from her past and make it back to the top without succumbing to the evil ways that turned her into a rotten person. However, the evil side of her hasn't completely disappeared and she's trying to fight it off. Negative emotions like doubt, fear, anger, among others, feed her evil side and allows it to grow stronger.
Availability: Immediately.
What I'm Looking For, Specifically: I'm looking for someone with a character that can push her to her mental limits and try the best that they can to bring her darker side out of her (a side she personally fears because of all the damage it caused). Methods to try to cause her to fracture include, but not limited to: torture, taunting, attempting to hurt someone close to her, anything super natural to scare her (ex: lights going off, "voices", etc), brainwashing, etc.
The main conflict would be whether or not she can overcome it all, stay positive, and finally put her darker side to rest. Also, for her antagonist, it's an opportunity for them to show everyone how sick, evil, dark, twisted, crazy etc. they will go to make their message and their points heard.
(NOTE: If whoever is interested happens to be in a tag team, Marina is partnered up with Stacy Robinson. This could potentially turn into a tag team thing)
Is What I Am Looking for REQUIRED? No, it's not. I'm open to any storyline, but as far as storylines are concerned, that's something I specifically came up with.
(Note: My only caveat is that the person currently isn't involved in any storyline. I don't want to potentially clutter or interfere in anything in progress)
ALSO note that I may get more than one response for this and thus, I'd have to choose between 2 or more people. If that's the case, just know that if you're not picked, it's nothing personal, I just feel like the person I picked is a better fit and I would be more than willing to work with you in the future.
If this sounds like something that fits your character, PM me. If you're looking to do something else (as I said, I'm open to anything),you're more than welcome to PM me as well, and we can try to figure out what we can do.

Never been any good at planning stories or feuds with people. Usually just follow wherever Seth's booking takes me.
Had a really good recent one with Oblivion, though we never actually PM'd each other - it just seemed to flow with Seth's bookings.
Personally just not good at making plans and committing to them. Like back in late December/early January - Bobby Cairo, Jack Happy, and I were having some serious talks about forming up a stable by April, and as you've noticed that hasn't happened.
Anyway, to the point - my advice would be that eventually if you float long enough, you'll end up finding a raft. Or maybe a shark! Or a sexy mermaid!

I disagree Logan. Our Orbit/"Sarah Twilight" storyline was awesome. And it was natural and organic. I PMd you out of the blue about using your character and it just blossomed into a feud and a weird storyline. That's why I tell people JUST PM PEOPLE. Anything. You don't need plans. The stuff just happens.

If anyone is sitting in limbo, but wants to get involved with a feud, hit me up. As you all may know, Terry is in a heated feud with the Shadow demons, and is outnumbered 4 to one.
Could use some help evening out the odds, if you are interested.

Those of you advertising that you're interested in a storyline in here might want to link to your roster entry in case there's someone out there who isn't really familiar with your character. Plus your heel/face/neutral status as well in case they're old school and want to feud with someone not the same status as them.
That's not to say that you should stick with the tried and true formula of face vs. heel. I feuded with Oblivion for about 3-4 months I think and we were both heels. It worked beautifully and is one of my favorite feuds I've had.
