Dearest WCF,
The time is fast approaching.
This Sunday, December 23rd, marks the last show that Seth Lerch will ever produce. He’s decided to go out with a bang, booking the biggest clusterfuck of his life on this very special occasion. My thoughts on the match, my opponents, teammates, all that all can be saved all for another time. There are much bigger items on my agenda.
Like power.
I’m about to seize power of the entire Wrestling Championship Federation. My long-time rivals will soon become my employees. I’m sure this puts countless people at unrest. After all, I make no bones about the fact that I lack respect for most of you. I realize that. Since I will soon be the person writing your paychecks, allow me to put you at ease with this letter. It’s true, I’ve never been afraid to let my former and future opponents know EXACTLY what I think about them. That’s the way I’m built. Where I’m from, you earn your respect, and you will all will be given that chance.
Soon, I’m going to be much more than the three-time WCF World Champion. I’m going to be much more than the man who is putting the finishing touches on the most dominant year by any wrestler in WCF history. Soon, I’m going to be the puppet master for the barrage of mid-carders and underachievers that fill our roster. Don’t fret though; I’m the rare wrestler who has transcended into the administrative side of things before. I know how to run a company. I know how to get the most of out of my wrestlers. WCF is going to rise to heights unimaginable, even to those of us who have seen the climb we’ve made this past year in the ‘Era of Jonny Fly.’
You see, I hold no bias. I may dislike some of you, and that will never change, but soon I will only care about results of the company as a whole. The reason Pantheon has been so dominant is for two reasons. First off, we’re all ridiculously talented wrestlers. If you’re still in denial about that then you’re a lost fucking cause. Second off, each one of us is driven to be great. We hate to lose, which is why we’ve done so little of it in the past six months. My leadership within Pantheon isn’t so much leadership as it is trying to set an example. I don’t make Corey Black great; Black’s been incredible for years. He’s a Hall of Fame, and deservingly so. I don’t make Jeff Purse great; the man is just naturally gifted. I didn’t beat every single one of you like he did at War, that was all him. I just go out every single week and win my matches. I do my part. I simply try to lead by example.
That’s a microcosm of how things will work under my ownership of the WCF. There isn’t a man on this roster who will receive any considerations for past performance. I broke through that wall a long time ago, and we’re not going back. I sat and watched all these veterans with sticks up their ass talk down to me because I was the boisterous newcomer. They shoved their titles and accomplishments in my face and discredit my early wins as nothing more than a lack of competition. Where are these people now?
I got my first World Title shot because I beat everyone put in front of me for three straight months. I earned my right to the top of the card. Whether you like it or not, that’s the standard. Title shots will work on a progression basis. You don’t get to lose three straight matches, but be in cahoots with Seth and get a title shot. Let’s be honest, that costs the company money. The fans are smart enough to see politics for what they are. The good matches book themselves. People want to see more of younger guys like Henri Ducos, Benjamin Atreyu, and Chris Kane, and I’m going to give it to them. These guys are winning matches, they do their job. They’ll reap the rewards of that under my ownership, and so will anyone else that falls into their category.
If my biggest rivals, people like Gravedigger, Synn, Nathan von Liebert, Balfore, and the lesser talented of the two Price’s on the roster deserve something, they’ll get it. I promise. I’m never going to be the nice guy, though. I’m never going to go out of my way to tell Eric Price he’s great when I know that if the two of us were in the ring together, he would leave as a reformed and humble man. I will be fair, and that’s far more than any of you ever got from Seth Lerch. That’s why Seth Lerch is finished. Seth wasn’t fit for the power that he held. While my arrogance gets cited often, at least you all know the reason behind it. What in the world is so special about Seth Lerch that you all have allowed him to carry on in the fashion he did for so many years?
Let me tell you about power, power comes from strength. Strength can only translate to power in its literal state, not its figurative state. Seth Lerch possessed only figurative strength. He himself is neither a capable wrestler nor a brilliant businessman. He’s just a figurehead. Seth Lerch did not put any money in your pockets; you put money in your pockets. You are the people that entertained the masses, that got the buyrates, and it’s your promotional messages that made their way onto millions of television sets across the country. Seth Lerch has never stood in the center of a WCF ring, across from some of the industry’s best talent, and gave his viewers an in-ring performance that one day they’ll tell their grandchildren about. Seth was a manipulative, meddling, and tyrannical little man who has done NOTHING for this company. Please notice how I’m talking about him in the past tense.
Seth’s greatest creation for the WCF was the mockery he made of the company. Allow me to explain; his destructive nature coupled with weekly mind-boggling and self-fulfilling decisions forced a group of people to take action. That group was, and is, Pantheon. Seth’s actions directly led to our formation. When I entered this company I realized immediately what goes on here. Take a look at your ‘veterans’ on the roster, don’t you hear that sense of entitlement in their voice? Seth bred that mindset. Why else did we all have bear witness to Logan, of all of the motherfuckin’ legends this place has created, walk out of a World Title match against me and tell the world “I. Can’t. Beat. Jonny. Fly.”
Unlike Seth, I do have power. I’m immensely wealthy, from a long and decorated wrestling career, to say nothing for my business deals on the side. I’ve achieved that wealth because I’m smart, calculated, cunning, and driven. These are all qualities that Seth Lerch does not possess, and qualities that will benefit the pocketbook of every wrestler on my roster. Just as importantly, I possess the literal power that Seth Lerch only wishes he has. I AM the most dominant wrestler this company has ever seen. I’ve set a standard in this company that was severely lacking before my rise to prominence. Seth Lerch hides behind people and legislates to get what he wants; I simply take what I want. I wanted him out. He’s out.
This change of leadership had to happen. It’s time to turn the page on the past, on Seth Lerch, and look to the future. This was the logical next step. Our leadership had to change. I’m by no means a perfect man, I have my warts and my faults, but I will never wrestle for a devious little bitch. I’m above that, and Pantheon is above that. So, here we stand. We did something about it, I did something about it. That’s power, and I hold all of it. On the eve of Seth Lerch’s last show as owner of WCF, I tell all of you…to be happy for this. The Pantheon motto was to ‘save professional wrestling.’ It’s an optimistic plan, but for now we’ll settle with having saved WCF. Things will be better from here on out.
I look forward to working with all of you. Okay, well maybe just some of you, but whatever.
Sincerely,
Jonny Fly
